    Just logged on and to my disbelief, Steam is showing me the latency of Drippy's is over 500....FUNTOWN to is over 500 as well. Checked out other TFC servers and other games too. Normal latency. Is there something with the server or some people? I know lately some people have been saying its been laggy.

    I can't answer for other servers, but I know there's a Comcast hub somewhere near the server that has been having trouble for months. I have no clue where Funtown's server is located(physically), but if it's anywhere near where the d2f server is, it's possible that the same hop is causing their problems as well.

Or worse, if YOU'RE near that hub.

I know the issue you're talking about.... I get it at seemingly random times.

    Battlezone is in Texas. Funtown is in Australia (I had to look that one up).

    Funtown can't be in Australia.....my pings went back to normal last night. But I'm thinking of maybe trying to change the internet speed at home to something higher. Right now average 18-20 ping on FIOS 50/50 plan. Maybe I'll try to get the next step up for half that. XD.

    Yah its probably Chicago. I think one of the admins mentioned that, too. Maybe the source I was looking at hasn't been updated.

    I would have to have a pr0n download going on in the background to match your avg. ping. xD

    A few years back I had Comcast and my ping averaged from 17-25.
Now I'm about 50 miles away and I have "CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS"(which is awful, don't get me started. not sure if any of you have that) and my ping averages 25-40 with spikes here and there. Not complaining, but it's amazing how there's differences in service with different providers.

When I first started playing TFC I had a 28.8 modem, so there's that... then upgraded to MEDIA ONE ROADRUNNER cable modem and things changed drastically.

edit: I will say, HH concing is hit or miss now. it's a little harder with a ping that is even 15-20 points higher. Maybe I haven't adjusted to it yet, but I can't imagine what it's like to HH with a 100+ ping. Also, when the woman is using Netflix, FORGEDDABOUTIT. no chance I can HH or do anything remotely time/ping sensitive. Charter sucks...

    I know there are a few people that live further away from me that play and have lower ping than I do. I'm guessing it's ISO, the plan, and w/e hops the server does. When I move into my own place (hopefully an apt. closer to the server xD) I want to try one of Verizon's mid range plans.

    I average anywhere from 60-80 ms normally. It's definitely the routing.

I'm in TN, but my traffic gets routed like this:

TN -> SC -> LA -> GA -> VA -> NJ -> NY

Seems like some of those places are a bit out of the way ...

    I'm guessing Charter probably uses Windows. The mystery has been solved.

    My router (ASUS) suddenly started messing with my ping. I am usually in th 20-50 range and went in the 200+ range. Got it back by having my router send everything straight through to the pc (DMZ zone). Haven't tried switching it back but it was working fine, before, and suddenly messed up.
