If at the 30 minute mark, score is more than 2 caps difference, end the round. 2 caps or less, extend, or vote to extend? Or if no caps for 5 minutes?

I like this idea. But, maybe 3 or 4 caps would be a better number. A lot can happen in 15 minutes.

These are all averages over the past 30,000 games or so:

With 45 minute matches, people play for 43.3% of the match (20 minutes). 32.9% go on to play in the next match.

With 30 minute matches, people play for 51% of the match (16 minutes). 38.9% go on to play in the next match.

This comes out to 16.2 players over the 30 minute matches, and 16.7 players over the 45 minute matches.

So yeah, with 30 minute matches, people play more of the match, but less actual time. Despite more players staying for the next match, the server population is still lower overall.

I think I just figured this out.

Bear with me a moment.... I was in two great matches today. Just finished one, and the one I played a few hours before it. They were great, because they were intense. Full throttle, from start to finish.

At the end of it all, I felt very drained. The earlier match, I'd dodged a HW, Solly, and two engies to nab a cap before 5 minutes in. That was the only cap of the game. I spent the rest of the round trying to get another one, just to make the lead more comfortable. It never happened. When that match ended, I was like, "Man, that was fun, but I gotta get away from it for a while."(in my case it was, "Man, that was fun..... but I gotta go lay down a while."

But I digress. Both matches ended the same, both teams struggling fiercely, for 45 minutes. Two caps were made in the last game. Again, I felt drained.

Now, It's fairly well known that I've done some crazy and silly shit from time to time... but I've been able to marathon 30 minute matches on here. To the tune of about 20 hours a day, for days on end.

Why the change? Maybe I am getting in worse shape.... but at least at the end of a 30 minute match, you don't feel so drained. Then again, I also used to marathon hour long matches here..... Not quite as long, though..... I think my record back then was 17 hours in one day?

Anyway..... I'm starting to think 30 minutes, with an "overtime" if the game is close(flag have been touched a few times in the last 5 minutes).
