Yes, bobsmith. Words. In a forum of all places. And so many of them! Way fucked up.

I'm with Ill on this one. Mirvs in enemy spawn exhibit the requisite intent, per se. The burden should shift to the perpetrator to show mistake or other mitigating factors.

I suppose an example is in order. Yes it is. Don't argue. So you have the demoman dream scenario: A weasel-dicked sniper or two quaking in trepidation with their backs up against the wall next to their spawn entrance. You know they are there, ripe for the vaping, and you try to suppress your erection at the thought by imagining what gaba's girlfriends must look like, and fling yourself upon their batts with a MIRV primed at the ready. And just as you cum...I mean, let go...one of them bolts for the door sucking the MIRV in right along with him. It takes him out along with a couple from the All Walnuts Does is Spam Whiner's Club and B|ind Sniper who is there in his fatty costume but is specing to see how many nail nades Xeno is chunking in front of the enemy main spawn (he's up to seven about this time) and suddenly he's all "wtf??". He sees the gruesome carnage splayed about him and is reaching for the yellow flag. This is when someone from the AWDISW Club is compelled to ululate about the atrocity which gives the accused the opportunity to say "Fuck you, the door was closed when I threw it and they ran and opened it for me." B|ind Sniper is relieved to hear this because you don't really want to fuck with good demomen.

Another case is when you get into enemy spawn and there's like 17 teles, 10 of them offensive. I mean, you GOTTA do a MIRV, right?
Wait.... you VAPE?!

This changes everything!

Anyway.... Last night, I got a little collateral damage, as I tossed 2 frags at 3 teleporters. Learned that, when packed that close together, that 1 nade will take out all 3 if placed properly.

The intent was the teles, though.

Secondary nades in spawn should be banned altogether. They will cause damage to freshly spawned player regardless of intent. That disrupts the game and should be against the rules.

I don't think anyone would argue against that being a hard rule.

I certainly would. Build shit in your spawn and take the consequences and carry a lot of tissues.

I've seen someone play from the respawn, in an attempt to get someone nailed for "going for cheap kills"(spamming inside the respawn), just by trying to get the person playing from there.

It's a rare occasion where an issue is clear on the first look.

Just want to take a moment(I'm waiting for my son to be ready to go out) and drop this screenshot I took last night.

I know who the two players were, and after I saw what was going on, I was waiting to see if I was going to get a !report on it.

An Engy decided to play from SS respawn. That's all well and good. I was also waiting to see if he would build an SG up in there, to counter the soldier who kept jumping in after him.

While I didn't see what "started" this chain of events, I'm betting the Solly ran through and destroyed teleporters, so the Engy decided to defend them.

FWIW- No report was made, but I did think it was kinda silly to risk your team mates by defending a couple of teleporters in there.

He generally only plays from the main respawn. He only gets in trouble in SS when he's on O, and decides to go for cheap kills.

****

While I'm thinking about it, I want to bring up something that happened last night. Rebel was playing from the SS-Deck Door, which as we all know, is a valid target for spamming, camping, etc. I was in the flag room on D, when he complained about a Spy "pill-spamming the respawn". I opted to drop into spec, as I wasn't sure exactly where he was playing from.

I found him, and saw that he was indeed playing the "deck door hugger"(which, obviously, isn't illegal)... and drawing the spam(which isn't illegal either). While I was watching, Playground Tactics decides he's going to disrupt Rebels game play(same team).

I handed him a !warning about it, and he ignored me. He earned himself a 1 hour ban for it when he didn't stop.

Cheap tactics do NOT give anyone a reason to disrupt their own teammates. He wasn't door blocking, nor was he bouncing Playground around with his pipes, and he wasn't doing anything disruptive except drawing spam.

If you don't like how a team mate is playing(and it's not breaking a rule)..... change teams and go after them.

Though, this is not up to me, this is where i think the rule might need to be changed a little bit. Especially in rebels case since he does the exact same thing every single game he plays... i dont see how that is fun but whatever.

I would argue that drawing spam over several games in the same area is disruptive. In Rebels case, he disrupts the snipers ability to defend, which hurts the O from being able to cross the bridge. At the same time, he pusses out and runs back in giving the attacker probable cause for entering the SS respawn, and destroying tele's. Now I know that there are other ways to get up there but you are kind of handing the keys to them in a way.

Not learning from this is disruptive... but again, not my call. Although, i love playing against Rebel, b/c i know where he is the entire game and then i just make him my bitch.

I disagree that anything needs to be changed, to be honest. At worst, that sort of play only cuts off one of the 5 Sniper positions. That door has been "legal to camp/spam" for years, because the drop down is protected. You can either try your luck on the deck(and it doesn't matter if someone is playing from there or not), or take the dropdown and not worry about spam.

Many regulars(myself included) will make random runs through there just looking for teles. The fact that those are allowed in there is why it's legal to go up there in the first place. The rule is to not go for cheap kills from freshly spawning players... but there is allowances for "accidental/collateral" kills.

If I go up, and there are no teleporters, I turn around and run back out, even if someone starts shooting at me. As far as the rules go, I'm no different than any other player. If I fuck up in there, I can be banned just as quickly as anyone else.

Hell, I once gave myself a !warning for accidently hitting the wrong grenade key. Had I gotten a "cheap kill" out of it, I'd probably go ahead and either !kick or 1-hour ban myself. Because I'm fair like that.

If I hear a tele up there I'll throw a nade, other than that I just avoid it. I have better things to do than argue that when I was up there the other guy attacked first and so I shot him but actually it was me because I had my medkit out, but really it was him because he was looking right at me with intent to kill me. Then someone else spawned and they both looked at me with is 2 against one which isn't fair so I defended myself which I'm allowed to do according to the constitution.

Actually I was hitting main with a pill as I ran through, sometimes I'd die near main prepping to throw one, etc.
But I'm allowed 1, and I stand by that. I'm not going for cheap kills on freshly spawned players, I'm going for easy kills on players with one leg in the grave.
