After running some more rankings, it seems your ranking (and omni) since this team balancer has been put into effect is significantly different from prior. So it might be placing you wrong because of that.

I changed the algorithm to only take into account recent games, so it might work better now. Might not, as the more games it has, the more accurate it is.

Olinkapo's rating is almost exactly the same, and Iggy's is close as well.

There's a way to tell if the player you just killed has respawned or not... but I'm not letting that secret out of the bag.

Drippy- I usually have my "Bucks" displayed, can "Skill" be displayed at the same time, or no?

I'm curious how the system works, but I know that my skill set varies greatly from one class to another.

Is there a way to add that to the Stats page, at least?

    Its different from the skill displayed. And nope, I didn't want to publish it to help against people trying to game it.

Dunno if you were around for it but more than a few years ago drippy implemented a 'fade to black' thing when you died but removed it, partly for this reason IIRC.

    I've found the new team balancer to work very well with a full server.

Today there was a 15v11 match, and the 15 player team was on the defense. Wasn't a surprise that about 7-8 of those players on the smaller team were all tfc veterans. If it would have been equal numbers the one team would have been rolled hard.

    Has this been broken?

For a while I was getting used to 0-0 or 10-0/0-10 games.

Been noticing that not being the case lately

    No, but it depends on the people. Games still get lopsided like when one team touches the flag and 50% of the other team instantly either quits or stops playing (as happened in the game you asked this in)

    After a little while of this, I must say that it seems to be working for the most part. While it looks like it's unfair to the eye at times (eg 14v10), and I'm sure people complain about uneven teams, I feel that the close games as of late have been GREAT. It's kind of fun to be outnumbered, too. Feels more rewarding when one caps.

    I think the only times I've moved people manually since this system was when they wanted to be moved but couldn't figure out how to do it themselves.

So, do people think the new(ish) teambalancer should automatically switch people to improve quality when needed?

    I like giving people the option to switch. My vote would be do not make it automatic. Just my thought.

My feedback for the team balancer:

I really liked the team balancer, at first.

What I dislike now is that we're getting lots of the same matches over and over, e.g. I rarely get to be on the same team as, say, Olinkapo or Aerocow, regulars whom I enjoy playing on the same team with.

In addition, the team I am on always has a 2 or 3 man disadvantage, which I believe is due to the fact that I have a good win/loss ratio. Not only am I not good enough to overcome that discrepancy by myself, it also is unfair to my own team mates as they also have to overcome this discrepancy.

Does the team balancer take into account the alltime win/loss record or only since the team balancer was put into effect?

How many recent games? Past 10? Past 100?

Also, where can we see our wins versus losses. It's tracked but I do not see it on the stats pages. I'm just curious.

Yes, its only since it was put into effect - as I mentioned in some post here, some peoples w/l ratio is way different with forced balance. It does currently fall back to the historical rating until you get 30 games with the new balancer.

edit:
No, I don't actually track w/l. I feed the outcome of the game to the algorithm and it adjusts everyones rating accordingly, which also takes into account the expected outcome of the game (so if it was expected to be a stomp, it won't change ratings much) and the amount of playtime from everyone.

I generally prefer to stick to my starting team, but I also usually let the server choose that team for me.

The auto-shift would at least keep the numbers on par, though. So, I'm kinda on the fence about it.

If the rounds were longer, I'd say to give the teams a couple of minutes to sort themselves out. Thing is, in those few minutes, the score could get run up quite a bit. At that point, not many would want to change, even if the whole team leaves.
