Just like the title says, are there multipliers for certain body parts in terms of damage? I never really played TFC in its glory days that most people here come from but I always assumed there are no damage multipliers except for maybe the sniper rifle? Or is it just for explosives? I’ve noticed when a grenade tossed at my face takes off a little over 50% of my AP and around 25% of my HP where as a grenade tossed at my feet doesn’t do as much (excluding the fall damage taken). I know the headshot death animation plays when the killing shot was done to the head but I always figured it was more for aesthetics as opposed to reflecting headshot damage.

I've always felt that anything in the head area is multiplied somehow. Never got into the weeds. It just feels that way.

Seems like rocket launcher body shots do more damage than ground shots hitting peoples feet. Theres gotta be something to this.

Sniper rifle for sure does headshot damage, I think most of the time it's a 1 hit kill. Even gets its own sprite.
My big beef is the low splash damage rockets and pipe bombs do. I can't worth shit when I'm soldier, have horrible timing, so most of the time I try to go for the splash damage.

Oh hi.
Sniper Rifle does x2 against the head or x0.5 against the legs. Assault Rifle has no body-specific modifiers (same as all other weapons). Close backstab with the knife does x1.5 damage (54) straight to health, while a perfect backstab does x3 (108, also straight to health). An opponent could survive a perfect backstab if juiced up by a Medkit or whatever.
Nothing else involves body-specific multipliers. As people are aware, explosions have blast radii, and thus variability in how much damage you'll take. Direct body hits simply have the explosion closer to the hitbox, though getting max damage out of a rocket even with the perfect body shot is extremely rare. You can technically kill a Soldier in 3 rockets or an HW in 4, but even if you have someone stand still and directly rocket them, you'll rarely achieve it.

How do you get perfect backstabs. I feel like brah is so good at getting them. Also good at nailing tranq shots.

| | Since I use soldier almost exclusively, I thought I'd respond to this.
Usually if I stuff a rocket up someone's nose they go to sleep. However, I usually shoot in front of them, especially in a passage, because it will stop them from advancing and keep them at bay (if my shot is decent). Then I can get another shot before they reach me.
In general, I think I do well as soldier, especially since I consider myself accurate, but not precise. However, keep in mind a lot of my targets are already damaged since I usually try to defend the spiral or elevator. I think thats why I have trouble understanding it when someone with a gun kills me when I hit them equally much with my rocket. This also has to do with me taking splash damage from my own rocket.
