I just recently started playing after like 20 years. I've noticed at the beginning of a round when I'm running down the hallway exiting the respawn, that another player of the same class is out-running me down the hallway. My question is, what causes that? Is it latency related? | |

Wall-strafing. Hold forward and strafe against a wall, and play around with the the direction you're facing, and you'll notice you go faster. | |

Level1nobody is correct. Wall strafing can give you a bit of a speed boost. It also helps you get across the bridge, and that's where it's easiest to practice. | |

I wish more people knew about wall-strafing. There's regulars who have been playing here for years who still don't do it. Not sure if it's because they just aren't aware of it, or they don't notice, or both. Kudos to Assman for asking.
For us O-minded players, it can get pretty frustrating being stuck being someone (fatty, soldier) who is not aware of this or other movement enhancements. Sometimes I miss a conc because some fatass is waltzing out of spawn and moving slowly w/o stepping aside.
The best place to practice wall strafing is on the bridge because it's a straight away.

Pro tip. If you want to rage quit but not have it announced in game you left for us to make fun of you (or anyone)…pressing ALT + F4, turning off your PC, ALT then TAB out of game and close the game via Task manager, destroying your PC, etc. might not trigger the announcement in chat you left. | |
