when a hwguy is just attacking me for no reason and i tell him to stop, why do i kicked and banned for whining? i am not whining. i am telling the newb to stop or they will get reported? play the tape back. this is ridiculous? when other players hit me and admit it, i warn them. they do it again, i report it. wth is going on here? | |

Its all about context...Was it saying something once or were you hammering on about it?
Next time use team chat seeing as this person is on your team. The whole game doesn't need to know this hwguy is teamshooting you.
Also, and I hate to victim blame, but try and do things to show you are not a spy. Like shoot the ground, use your voice chat even if you don't have a microphone the icon still appears. Switch weapons so the animation shows. Don't run around with the weapon the spy disguise uses. For instance engineers its the ray gun. Medics its the shot gun. Demoman its their grenade launcher. Pyro its the...not sure what pyro spies look like. These are the most popular spy disguises as their movement speed is similar to that of a spy.
Sadly all this may not matter at all. But its a good practice to get into anyways | |

You don't get a free pass cause can't tell it's a spy. Having to shoot the ground, switching weapons, and not using grenade launcher as demo sounds ridiculous as it will affect gameplay. Voice chat does work wonders.
Doesn't seem like a whine to me though, unless spamming, even if in pubchat. If anything, he's trying to warn the player versus simply reporting and possibly getting a new player banned. | |

The Engie's weapon isn't a "Ray Gun", it's a "Rail Gun".
As for the whine ban....
It takes a while(and lots of !whiners) to get you up to a ban, and the first level of that is 5 minutes, then an hour, then a day, then 5 days.
Only Drippy- knows the actual numbers per level here, and only he can actually institute a non-Whiner ban as a Whiner.
I wasn't on, so it wasn't me. But Drippy- can look at the logs and see what's what. | |

Scout = nailgun
Sniper = sniper/auto rifle
Soldier = rocket launcher
Demoman = grenade launcher
Medic = medkit
Hwguy = assault cannon
Pyro = flamethrower
Spy = tranqilizer gun
Engineer = railgun

A spy disguises to whatever the default spawn weapon for a class is, with the exception of enemy spy (spawn weapon is tranq, but disguised weapon is knife). So everything above is right aside from that, and a spy medic holds the Super Nailgun. (Using old models, I sometimes have a hard time differentiating these at a distance).
Sniper/Auto Rifle look identical and there's no switch animation from a third person perspective, and same for Grenade/Pipe Launcher, so toggling between those won't accomplish anything to prove you're not a spy. Same for Double/Single Shottie if the viewer is using old models (both shotguns look the same).
Easiest/most foolproof way to prove you're not a spy is to simply fire a shot of something you can quickly reload (like a shottie), like gg said. (Not at the teammate...), but weapon toggling or a brief mic tap will also usually work for better players.
Absolutely nothing will work for your teammate Pipes. He'll det you no matter what you're doing. | |

And spoofer thanks for clarifying that the models are the same. As if these are the only weapons held by snipers and demomen.
They got crowbars as well. My point stands to toggle weapons. I've had people fire at me when I shoot at the ground so I favor the weapon toggle. But thanks for letting me know the AR and Sniper look the same and to not toggle those. But quite frankly if you are playing sniper anywhere other than battlements you deserve to get your armor stripped and your pants pulled down

Was just clarifying for anyone who might think there's a little weapon switch animation that gets played.
A lot of players have a two-weapon toggle that's easier to press than fishing for ancillary weapon keys, or use lastinv, so sniper/auto and GL/PL are obviously the two most on tap weapons for those classes. I'm lazy so I don't like taking my fingers off movement to tap nailgun as Sniper (actually I use my thumb for it so I wouldn't even have to, but the point of my laziness still stands), so I just fire an AR shot off instead, for instance. | |

Firing the weapon excites certain players. They are like oh yeah? You wanna shoot the ground. Imma shoot you. It makes zero sense cause the only reason to teamshoot is to detect a spy and spies lose disguise when shooting.
The real assholes are the engineers who shoot u to spy check instead of hitting you with the spanner (it is called a spanner right? dont want to upset anyone) | |
