Admittedly, I think the verdict was the correct one and I recently thought of it this way:

-If Rosenbaum was never there, would the same (or similar) chain of events had happened? Possibly, but maybe unlikely?

-If Rittenhouse was never there, would Rosenbaum have potentially started shit with someone else wielding a weapon and set off a similar/different chain reaction of violence? Possibly? Maybe more likely than the other scenario?

I think Rosenbaum being the aggressor is the key action in this whole case. I just don't understand why people would want to go after a guy with a rifle?

At the end of the day I can't help but feel that "if the adults did their fucking jobs and kept the city in order, maybe the civilians wouldn't have to take things into their own hands"
Yeah. I agree with this. Not gonna get long winded(and I was only kidding about deleting my post)... on my last smoke before I gotta go make more.

From every piece of video I've seen(both pre and during trial), Rittenhouse was not the aggressor at the beginning of all this. The fact that he turned and ran away from Rosenbaum backs that up. I fully believe that he did not pull that trigger until he felt he had no choice. He got lucky with that head shot, though. Even at that range, he's retreating and the other guy is full on chasing him.

I can believe that elbow-boy may have thought it was an "active shooter" situation, but that depends greatly on where he was when the shots rang out. That's a piece of the puzzle I don't have.

I watched some of the trial, but not all of it. Saw a lot of the video as it was shown to the jury.

Rittenhouse may be a LARP kid, based on his lack of training.... but I don't consider him a murderer. He ain't no hero, either.

Yeah, I mean he ran...turned to flash the rifle as if to say "I'm packin, bro"

Kept running and the dude caught up to him...the same dude that said to him earlier "If I catch you alone I'm going to fucking kill you"

That dude Rosenbaum had some things wrong with him mentally...who's to say what would have happened if he caught him?

Insert someone else in Rittenhouse's place that had a knife on them...would there still be so much outrage if that other person was in the same situation and just stabbed Rosenbaum to death?

Bottom line is that guy Rosenbaum was a threat and was looking to hurt someone

A joke (EDITED) going around is "Joseph Rosenbaum died doing what he loved: touching minors without consent."

I try not to justify the untimely death of a person by their past criminal record and psychological history, even for that piece of shit, because I'm sure that would come back to bite me in a future argument. But it absolutely factors into his actions at the riot. For all I know, this could've been suicide by cop, sans cops. I consider Rosenbaum to be by far the most responsible for everything that happened.

And without taking away from the legitimacy of Rittenhouse's actions, I have some sympathy for the other two. I wouldn't call their intentions or the specific actions they took idiotic in and of themselves simply because I won't armchair-quarterback how I'd react in that chaos.

*But*... Kyle was running *toward* the police. Not in my most braindead moments would I look at an armed civilian running down the middle of the street - rifle at the ready, in plain view of law enforcement and not using the crowd as cover - and think that I needed to be the one to apprehend them.

I honestly thought the biggest chance of the guilty verdict would have been on killing Rosenbaum. Huber and jump kick guy actually inflicted harm on Rittenhouse and bicep blown off guy pulled an illegal firearm on him. I guess Rosenbaum chasing Rittenhouse and reaching for his gun was good enough for Kyle's jury, not so much the jury in the Armed Robbery case. Then again, if I was on that jury, I'd think back to the summer of 2020 and would think, "do I want state sanctioned violence in my community?"

So you're saying you would vote to convict to prevent the justice system from sanctioning these men's actions of hunting down and violently murdering this man in his broader community for no justifiable reason whatsoever? A surprisingly coherent take coming from you.

Yeah, I'm with you on the parts I didn't quote here. But this line... I've seen it all over Facebook.... but only as a meme, not a "quoted" statement from someone.

So, if it's supposed to be a quote from someone(legit, not just a joke), then I'd love a citation on it.

As a joke/talking point, "right wingers" are sharing the fuck out of it. As a joke, I think it's pretty funny... but then again, I'm a pretty twisted bastard..... so I find things funny that others don't.

If the government won't protect the people and private property of those people...citizens have every right to defend what is theirs. If I'm carrying a firearm and you attack me then I make the assumption you plan to take it and use it on me.People have the right to protest. They don't have the right to destroy everything in the process of a protest.

Read what you removed from the ellipses. It's like what the press does, still continuing the lie that Trump didn't denounce white supremacists in his "good people on both sides" press conference, which he literally did a couple paragraphs down in the transcript.

I think there's more shades of gray with the Armed Robbery case. I don't think it was right for them to pursue the way they did but I don't think it was right to run towards the guy with the shotgun and grab it. The guy who actually fired the gun should be guilty on at least one or a couple counts but not all of them.
