I used to have a .177 caliber CO2 pistol, and there were two different rounds I used for that thing. One, had a relatively flat tip for piercing paper targets. The other, that could be lethal if it hits the right spot.
I listened carefully to the videos being played, and I honestly don't recognize that sound. I've fired quite a few different guns in my day, but never heard one that sounded like that. Could be the distance involved (if indeed it was a building), or something else.
Makes me want to take my .22 out somewhere remote and fire off a few rounds to compare. I have both .22 and .22LRs to load it with.
Either way, this is NOT the thing to do, no matter which side of the aisle you're on. | |
Probably the same way that Hinkley snuck a gun so close to Regan. The campaign wants to have the people see the candidate, so the Secret Service gives in. He IS a former president, so he will always have a detail, but he is not the sitting president, so the detail is not as big. Then there is the fact that the Secrect Service has been spread so thin.... it isn't really that surprising that someone got a gun in there. | |

At present, the story is that the gunman was on the roof of the AGR building and that he was some 130 yds away with a clear line of site to Trump.
Unless that dramatically changes, this was, at best, an abject failure on the part of the secret service. In it inexcusable for them to have allowed ANYONE with a rifle to get that close.
On top of all that, it is apparent that some attendees saw the gunman and made that known to police several minutes before the shots were fired, but no mitigating action was taken. | |

It's still WAY too early to know the facts
With that in mind, there are rumors floating that the shooter donated only to the democrats but registered as a Republican in order to be less suspicious attending Republican rallies.
Quick Question - Does this mean we can't just shoot people we don't like? What if we REALLY REALLY dont like them, is it okay to shoot them in that case?

So let me get this straight. On the one hand, the government is bumbling idiots | an abject failure on the part of the secret service. In it inexcusable for them to have allowed ANYONE with a rifle to get that close.

This didn't age well. The man who died threw himself over his family to protect them as soon as the shots rang out. He was an Emergency responder who was named in the media today. According to reports, he was hit in the head and died instantly. | |

Nese, my comment about the DEI agent was satire. Hiltz's false flag bullshit was so ridiculous I just figured I'd pile on and ratchet up the degree of ridiculousness. I would've thought that was obvious, but apparently not so, at least not to you.
P.S. I DO believe the female secret service agent was likely a DEI hire; the part about her strategically positioning herself in front so Trump could have the photo op was pure satire.

wow..... "He's on the roof!" a small crowd of people yelling out to unaware officers.
In my imagination silent drones with thermal cameras capable of zooming in would be patrolling the huge turnout of people. Not see something - say something approach.
Especially because people tend to either worship or truly hate Trump. Like were the secret service walking through the crowds of people & they didn't have a single drone above for security?
Also people fucking YELLING for help within earshot of the now desperate shooter is quite stupid. | |

So there is now no escaping the fact that there were gross failures on the part of the secret service that led to the assassination attempt and the killing of an innocent bystander. Unfortunately, I doubt we will ever know the true root cause(s) and I doubt there will be meaningful corrective actions taken. Those require both transparency and accountability, which are two things never associated with government employees or agencies. We'll probably get little more than "We messed up and we promise to do better"
I hope I'm wrong, but I bet I'm not.
