And? Not all are hits, not all are misses. Same as any presidency. I'm sure Trump is going for the fuck you to the other party.
Two things: maybe the dems should stop forcing a candidate and actually let their constituents decide...because Bernie would have won in 2016 and anyone other than Harris had a chance to beat Trump. I've no doubt Whitmer would have beat him.
Second...maybe the dems should start listening to Bill Maher more. When Mr. Liberal says you're too far left...he's actually right. You're losing voters to the identity and bullshit politics.
Anyway, enjoy the next four years. I'm looking forward to more healthy debates.

There's a "drain the swamp" meme going around with a silhouette of Trump on his knees in front of another dude labeled as "the swamp."
In the weeks leading up to the election (unless I was watching old videos) I saw four high-profile Democrats advocating for internet censorship. I don't expect much out of Trump but I am so glad those fucks are no longer in power.
RFK Jr. is by far my favorite pick. His book is fantastic, well-sourced and a total indictment of Fauci.

I say very left-wing. In American terms, Novara Media are essentially the reincarnation of Lenin. Fuck, in Democrat terms, Novara Media are essentially the reincarnation of Lenin. The current Labour government is seen as 'right wing'.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x776NMQaV6k&lc=UgyCs3TnEZDN7... The interviewer, a left-liberal, and Ash, a left-progressive (I paraphrase):
"Maybe we were wrong on some things..?" "We need to persuade harder."
Just reading some fascinating comments on there.
The Democrats aren't the left! The Guardian isn't the left! Labour isn't the left!
Who the fuck 'is' the left, with those taken out? The left have ruled so many people 'out' of the left, there's not enough left to vote left.
They all left. | |

For all that is the Left though, Biden and Harris seem to cynically pick and choose the parts that benefit them and make you question if they're really left policies.
Open borders: I vaguely recall that the Communists historically have valued strong borders. Open borders is popular among some Libertarians.
The professional-managerial class Democrats have forsaken their working-class base and now need to boost their numbers through mass migration.
The welfare state: Yes, I call it a welfare state because socialism is supposed to put some measure of control of the means of production into the hands of the working class.
That, by and large, never happened. The "socialist" Obamacare only made the healthcare industry wealthier, with people still dying with medical debt.
The Cares Act (and let's not pretend this was solely a Trump thing), I'll remind everyone, was the largest upward transfer of wealth in the history of the country.
"Left" foreign policy: The only substantive difference between Trump and Israel and Biden-Harris and Israel is that Biden put (or pretended to put) the slightest pause on Israel funding. Harris would give Israel whatever they want.
And Harris has courted the endorsement of the absolute worst Republicans of the modern era.
And don't get me started on how they crushed Bernie twice through underhanded means.
The US does not have a Left Party, but they pretend to.

| | This 1000%. Source: I used to be a democrat. | | I'm interested in hearing your shift from being more Democrat to Republican. My wife had a quick save for me during this past Shabbat dinner where we were being hosted by good friends. Naturally, the election came up, and I mentioned I voted for Trump. I think my friend was neutral, his brother-in-law I know for sure in favor, but I think his wife respectfully disagreed. I'm just basing that off the tenor not off of anything she explicitly said. So my wife's quick save was mentioning that I had voted Democrat before.
The Democrats lost the union endorsements ffs. Even Muslims were voting for Trump. The exit poll presented in this link is brutal: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/nov/09/democrats-lo.... They simply took identity politics too far; it's a coalition of the fringes.
My criticism of Maher is that he is clearly playing both sides. He makes good points but for the wrongs reasons. I think deep down he knows Trump was the right choice but it would be career suicide for him to say so.
I'm a big fanboy of RFK Jr. getting health and human services. I mean, there is a redemption arc that is simply unparalleled. To go from having a tranny to "get my swell on" RFK Jr. who gets random millennial journalists wet and stinky. Speaking of redemption arc, Pfizer better ramp up production on amyl nitrates to loosen its anal sphincter for the long hard cock of the law. Fauci et al. may need to stock up on some amyl nitrates as well because I think there is going to be hell to pay for the bullshit mask and vaccine mandates and shutting down the whole world.

It’s been increasingly difficult being a democrat but I refused to vote Trump even if I secretly believe I and the world are better off with him in office. The realization I believe that bothers me because I also believe he’s roughly as bad as his detractors make him out to be.
I sent an email to slesar to forward to Putin requesting he launch nukes so I can make smores 24/7.

I did read an article on Al Jazeera about the Palestinian vote considering Trump, despite, you know, Trump and the whole Muslim country ban thing.
Trump should not have been this difficult to beat.
I guess that’s what happens when you support what the world and UN consider ethnic cleaning and genocide. WHO THUNK IT.

Although I also read this article that says Trump won’t be any different than Biden on Israel which I solidly believe.

I guess we just really like genocide and ethnic cleansing. Maybe it’s not so bad after all.

Trump may arguably be worse on Palestine. But there are two potential silver linings:
1) He is occasionally unpredictable and may surprise us. Small chance.
2) The "kids in cages" thing, aka when a Republican does it, it's bad.
Most Democrats, anecdotally speaking, have nothing more than an equivocating opinion on the unconscionable slaughter of an oppressed people living in a concentration camp. Among other reasons, speaking out about it could hurt their candidate. And we should all be aware of how some Arab-Americans were banned from entering Biden/Harris campaign rallies (and I'm not even talking about the ones that protested).
But now that the buck will stop with Trump, expect more pushback about Gaza in 2025 from the conspicuously-silent libs.

Maybe it’s not so bad after all. | | Even if Trump is a stronger supporter of Israel than Biden, the difference is when Trump speaks Netanyahu he might actually consider what Trump is saying, even if he disagrees. Biden clearly had zero influence on Israel because Bibi didn't respect him.

| | This 1000%. Source: I used to be a democrat. | | I'm interested in hearing your shift from being more Democrat to Republican. | | I voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012. In 2016 I wanted Sanders to beat Hillary and saw how the DNC did everything in their power to stop that, but there was no way I was voting for Trump. I also liked John Kasich but he didn't get far at all. When forced to choose between Hillary and Trump, I decided not to vote.
In 2020 I opted not to vote again, having preferred Andrew Yang to Biden and still disliking Trump.
In 2021, I had a major eye opener when this happened: https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/05/business/tesla-snub-white-hou... Basically, Biden invited Ford and GM to his "EV" summit but not Tesla, who was outproducing and outselling them by orders of magnitude. It was painfully obvious this was because Biden was in the pocket of the auto unions, which Tesla doesn't use.
After so many investigations into Trump and legal cases brought against him, with none of them sticking I started to suspect the people behind them only cared about "getting" him and not about the law or the truth. The same was true after seeing examples of how the media twisted his words, selectively edited clips of him speaking etc. But I still wasn't confident or ready to support him.
This is all against the backdrop of growing up in a liberal house in suburban NJ and then moving to an ultra religious, politically right-wing enclave in NY in 2007. Basically 90% of the people I interact with daily are either "leaning right" or "extremely right".
The major thing that brought me on board was very recent. Choosing RFK and Musk as his advisors. It should be noted that both identified as Democrats until pretty recently.
I believe that regardless of how unpopular he is, Musk is absolutely fantastic at seeing through bullshit and reducing unnecessary costs. It's the only reason he built a rocket company and an electric car company simultaneously, at a time when everybody was saying it's impossible and he'll go bankrupt. It's easy to forget now because he's been so successful but only 12-15 years ago very few people thought he would succeed, and absolutely none of the major automakers were working on electric cars at that time, and nobody had ever built a cost-effective reusable rocket. He did both within a few years of each other.
I know a lot less about RFK but I watched him on Rogan and other interviews and I like how he views the problem with American health. Just a few hours ago he dropped a full hour podcast talking to Joel Salatin who I highly respect for his views on industrial food production and the health and environmental perils it brings. He is one of the most famous experts in regenerative agriculture and a staunch opponent of monoculture. Joel Salatin has been an outspoken critic of Monsanto, and RFK actually was part of a landmark court case that forced Monsanto to pay $289M in damages. Both are good things.
https://www.npr.org/2018/08/10/637722786/jury-awards-termina... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edgQH7MRuGg I recommend Salatin's book "Folks, This Ain't Normal".
Of course there's probably a thousand more small reasons my views changed but I've spent enough time writing this already.
