I'm not likely to chime in on this one, but I'm honestly curious what you guys think of the US attacking Iran over the last 12 or so hours.

Why won't I chime in? I'm actually conflicted about this topic... so I really want a lot more information than I currently have before I make a decision.

Iran hasn't been a good neighbor since the shah was overturned. They should never possess a nuclear weapon.I don't endorse a prolonged involvement with them.

First there likely were mini-attacks and/or sabotage both in Israel & Iran that the public are not aware of. We can't form opinions from information we're not aware of.

There are likely spies within Iran monitoring how close they were to having nuclear weapons completed, where that knowledge is not made public & thus our opinions become skewed. Today or yesterday, Trump said on camera Iran was weeks or at the latest months away from completing nuclear weapons. Again, classified documents would give us more information to form a better opinion. Were dirty bombs a threat?

We have anti-trump news outlets working hard to highlight mistakes & even exaggerate circumstances as proof of the Trump Administration failing.

We have pro-trump news outlets working hard to showcase achievements of Trump, leading viewers to believing Trump can't possibly do wrong.

It's fucked up when both networks leave out fucking huge events because a story goes against their narrative. India/Pakistan war was not on Fox for like the first 4-5 days or whatever, even after they threated to use Nuclear weapons if necessary. How can we trust the news beyond entertainment in 2025?

Famous quote that still holds true:
“If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you're mis-informed.” - Mark Twain

All across the country there are Americans ready to give their opinion on the Iran war by picking from one of these below:

Whatever TRUMP wants, they strongly feel the opposite must be correct.
Whatever AI suggests, they strongly feel is the only correct answer.
They pray and god doesn't answer, so whatever the POPE suggests must be the answer.

Most people enjoy an unchallenged view & an echo chamber that fits with how they see the world so they watch ONLY ONE NEWS OUTLET which reinforces the narrative that Trump is extremely great or terrible in all things.

Based on political unbiased videos of strangers on the streets being asked various questions, I totally believe:

Many 20-30 year old's believe we should never go to war, even if our country was directly attacked.

Many people believe we should or should not go to war, but this is dependent on the stock market because their personal financial freedom is more important than our countries freedom.

I'll post more later. I have some serious skin the game since I live in Israel. I don't think it's a coincidence that Netanyahu did this a day or two after he was two votes from his government dissolving. Israel is a parliamentary system. Guy's had a 30 year boner to attack Iran. 30 years of "Iran is closer than ever to getting a nuke!!!"

On the one side, I don't Iran should have a nuke. On the other side, I'm not sure if it's worth what is going on over here. Video related happened about a 10 minute walk from where I live https://limewire.com/d/BjjGC#hLnHf5IAjD.

BABL is on point. We fell for the propaganda for the war on terror. Don't fall for this.

Iran is the last nation on their list from the Project For a New American Century. (If you've never heard of that, get yourselves an account on X and start digging into it.)

Y'all have had an 'involvement' with them since before the overthrow of the democratically elected Prime Minister in 1953 to install the Shah, an autocrat. The overthrow was assisted by the US and UK to protect oil interests in Iran.

You're close enough to 60, you should have all of the information you need.

Not chiming in because you might have to say Trump did the right thing, perhaps?

You do this on a number of 'hot-button' topics; ask the question, then not chime in with your own opinion, at least not until well later anyway.

Whelp. Talk about blowback. The best way to have gone about this was stage some sort of color revolution. Have some dainty Iranian feminist lady flash her tits in public, get arrested by the police which in turn causes a riot.

The other thing that has me butthurt about this is that my summer vacation to the US is pretty much in the shitter. The air space is virtually closed here. They are only letting people in and if you want out you have to get approved by an exemption committee kind of like how during Covid if you didn't have the vaccine you needed to go through an exemption committee. I have some coworkers who were on vacation trying to get back. So far 2 out of the 3 of them have made it. No idea why they want to come back here when there's a regional war about to brew.

Another layer is that my wife just gave birth. The consulate/embassy is currently closed which means I can't get an emergency passport. No passport means our almost two week old daughter can't leave the country. It may be open tomorrow and I hope it is. Having this passport will give us some peace of mind in case we need to get the fuck out of here!

Maybe, maybe not, history will decide. For the moment, it's just a setback for Iran and nothing will change. Iran will still pursue a nuclear weapon, if only to counter Israel and allies. They really only need fissile material.

Neither the US nor Israel will or can stop them without putting boots on the ground.

Futures markets open at 6PM EST, and Asia not long after. This may be interesting.

The U.S. attack on Iran is a necessary response to escalating threats against American interests and regional stability. Iran's support for militant proxies (Hamas, Houthis, Hezbollah etc), its pursuit of nuclear capabilities (there is a difference between building reactors for power and reactors for weapons), and its direct threats against U.S. allies had reached a tipping point.

By taking decisive action, the U.S. not only defended its own personnel and partners but also sent a clear message that hostile behavior would not go unanswered. It’s about time we stopped playing nice with a regime that chants "Death to America" and actually backs it up with action.

I agree something needed to be done but not so on the nose like this. What's the fucking point of taking out their nuclear program if Russia is going to start giving them nukes?
