    Thoughts and prayers...

If the mass slaughter of children at Sandy Hook didn't move the needle on gun control, nothing ever will. Your guns are safer than your children and Charlie said that "there is a cost to liberty." A fitting epitaph.

I'm legit sad about this, from the "father of several young kids" standpoint. I saw the video and I wish I could delete it from my brain. Say what you want about him (I didn't agree with everything he said either) but nobody deserves this. I'm not looking to argue on this, about who liked him, or why you hated him, etc...

It's just sad to see a young guy a little younger than I am with kids the same age as mine not be able to watch them grow up. I feel for his wife and I feel for his community.

I really think this is going to be the thing that ignites some sort of civil unrest and a big demonstration from the right in protest of free speech. I truly hope this wasn't some lunatic radical leftist, because if it was, there's going to be a proverbial war that unfolds in the next few days.

Eloquent as a monkey. After 29 years in law enforcement and several stints with our homicide unit at every rank, I can 100% tell you it was definitely a gun that killed him.

People are going to protest against free speech when he was exercising his right to free speech when he was killed? I can't keep up with which parts of the constitution are safe for Republicans and those they water down at every turn.

Yeah, I left my gun at home all week, and it didn't kill anyone. People kill people. We need to bring back insane asylums and the death penalty. 29 years of issuing parking tickets is a long way from law enforcement. I bet you have an 8647 bumper sticker on your Prius.

Gun control, but only for woke cops who mock people for turning to prayer after tragedy.

To be honest, no one seem to have given a shit when Melissa Hartman and her husband were killed by a conservative and apparently the governor of MN was next. Nothing in the archives in this forums when searching for them. Yet people feel a civil war is gonna happen …. but not over a democrat and her husband getting assassinated amirite? I guess Republican lives matter more than Democrat lives?

In your search, did anyone say it was a good thing that they were killed? Did they celebrate it? The only time I can recall seeing any 'celebration' was when Paul Pelosi was assaulted.

The only reason some may feel a civil war is inevitable now is because Charlie Kirk was a known commodity across the board. The Minnesota House Speaker could have been a Republican and not garnered any more of a response here than what you found. Charlie has been watched thousands of times over, was well known, and now seen on video being killed, with some of that video being very up close and you knew it was a kill shot in that moment.

This one will be different and it's going to radicalize people who were on the fence. I hope I'm wrong, but I think it's inevitable now.

    Violence isn’t the answer.

It’s almost as if statistically excessive gun violence per capita is a bi-partisan issue.

Anybody taking joy in this, or using it as divisive mechanism (in either direction) should be embarrassed.

We should expect better in 2025.

Kirk: "I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational."

I don't think it ever occurred to him he'd be on the short end of that deal. It's like republicans are waking up and realizing that they, too, live in this violent hell-hole they've been making for the last few decades. They're not immune from the results of the policies they champion. https://giphy.com/gifs/ifc-party-bruce-willis-l0MYGb1LuZ3n7d...

^^^ And this. There has been full throated condemnation of this from both democrats and republicans. Not a peep when the MN lawmakers were killed from the right.
