it's so painfully obvious that medics are the best class in almost every offensive situation and the fact that this is even a discussion after 20 years of professional level play is fuckign stupid

I still disagree. A skilled soldier who knows how to fight while conc'd will take out a skilled medic any day.

| | Agreed. An experienced any class can take out another class on either offense or defense (or at best know how to outsmart the other class). Plus the Medic isn't the only one (well excluding the Scout) that has access to those lovely little metal pineapples of death that can bring a soldier to his knees and obliterate the light classes and bring the medium classes to near death. That's the main bread and butter for 8 out of the 9 classes. Take that away and the Medic (well all the others as well to a point) is just as squishy and vulnerable as a lobster about to be thrown into a pot of boiling water. | |

And 3 in a row.
A good solly can destroy a good medic. Obviously I've no clue about top level play, but certainly on here, the best players are the ones that can switch to, and destroy, as solly.
Even as someone who've never adapted to solly, it's obvious, solly is the best O class for 'when the shit gets tough'. For 'me', I fall back to demo for that - when I need to 'cut through' a lot of shit. But for a lot of the good players, you'll see they switch to solly.
Not that solly's OP, either, imho.
If there was such a thing as an honest-to-goodness OP class on TFC, by now, there'd be a lot more players gravitating to that class. I don't know about the stats here, but it doesn't 'feel' like medic's a class people are overly drawn to.
On 2fort, with all the tight corridors, I'm 'tempted' to say engies have it 'easier' here, but not that they're OP. Just that the class is best suited to defending small, confined areas.
Also:
