    Fail.

I refuse to vote for "the lesser of two evils". Therefor, I will be abstaining from this particular poll.

    most important ever? Pfft.

It doesn't matter who is president. Every single person that aspires to be president is a fuck job. No decent person would ever ever ever want to be president. Nothing will change either way.

The system has been broken for a long time, and politicians are profiting way too much to ever change that.

Unfortunately these are the choices, the bitch or the ass. The bitch wants to take our guns and the ass wants to build a wall, to put is simply. All Americans need to vote this time, there is too much to lose! Sitting this one out could be tragic.
All politicians are in for the money and least the ass is not a politician. I vote Trump, God be with us! We will need Gods help nonmatter who wins!

We could all do a write-in candidate, Drippy for President, I should have put him in the poll.

This is just sad. People who could never lead needing to tear down anyone that can. Ironically, these kind of people are the ones that need to be led the most. Notice there is no solution offered here other than the implied "better no leadership than, uh, you know, someone that can lead". Brilliant, eh?

Decisions have to be made. Its that simple. Someone needs to make them, they don't just appear from on high (at least for the more grounded of us). As with any other job, there are some more suited to the task of public service than others. It doesn't mean some that some that are unsuited won't try, but they usually get weeded out pretty quick. I can still respect their desire to serve us.

If they do a decent job of it, they are urged to seek higher office and work their magic there and make bigger decisions that effect more people. Hopefully, by this time, real ambition sets in and which makes them want to test themselves to see how much they can really accomplish. If you listen to disaffected cranks like snooze, this ambition makes the public servant an indecent person.

No sane person (this eliminates Ted Cruz) sets out to be POTUS. Your chances of being point guard for the Pistons are way better. They get pushed along the way. This doesn't explain that megalomaniac Trump, however. Its not hard for a billionaire to have enough people to tell him what he wants to hear before he believes it himself. Exception to the rule and probably the only person who ever bore out snooze's assertion. The guy has never made a decision that benefited anyone but himself.

If you want to impute the qualities of everyone in public service with the few that fuck it up by trying to unduly profit from it, nothing I can do to stop you. You also likely think your city council personally has it in for you because they are trying to get you to remove the broken appliances in your front yard. They're just like all the rest, you know. Yeah, yeah, you have rights too.

Office holders are likely to profit from it. Yes. Especially, in high office. But its not like black bag payoffs. I think its just a high perch that enables them to see more opportunities out there than the normal person. If they are smart, they take advantage of some of them, if they aren't, its unlikely they'd be there in the first place.

But you are right about one thing, snooze. The system is not optimal. Leaders with the best intentions get caught up in the party machines that are all about the money. See Bernie Sanders, see Citizens United. The average congressman is required by his party to spend about half their day cold-calling potential donors. There should be three NATIONAL primaries for president and one general election, all government funded, state funded for local elections.

This, right here, is the problem. Except it's not as huge of a problem as it has been in the past.

That line of thought is starting to break down. There are SO many people out there that will refuse to vote for either of those two, that a viable third party candidate just might pop up.

I won't do "the lesser of two evils", but I'm not "sitting this one out", either. But you didn't include a 3rd option, which shows how limited your cranial capacity is where this subject is concerned.

We could all do a write-in candidate, Drippy for President, I should have put him in the poll.
Sadly, there is a process for that. You can't just "write in" someone's name.... (that's throwing a vote away) unless their name is on the "Write in ballot" list for your state. I actually found this out some elections back, because I had been doing it.

The only things the government should be in charge of and tax us for is police, fire, courts/jails, and military. Everything else should be done privately or not be messed with. (I.E. Anything social based like gay marriage)

Too much corruption.

    so...
No standard for vocations that carry our lives like transit or air travel
No license for Med, Law, or any other field where you are putting your trust in their education and ability
No infrastructure to if not just get to the hospital but also allow our business sector to compete with the rest of the world
No public project for the benefit of all instead we will have toll roads, medical research and damns and leave it to the large conglomerates not to charge us much and on that line allow monopolies because after all that is market (most educated people realize free market has not existed since the turn of the last century) but by all means put your trust in a company
No retirement plans because wealth should be built without balance on the backs of the perpetual working class = you do understand the meaning of "company store"?
No regulations for the maintainment of health standards in the air or water or the ocean (you know where business goes on)

Seriously, have you studied history, or at least high school civics.

Look you can romanticize this notion of small govt. and more freedoms, but realize those days are gone and were illusory at best; until we as a people become more responsible and magnanimous; we will get the government we deserve.

Read Das Capital, even if you hate the liberal viewpoint, it is a great treatise on economics; read some Hegel; read the philosophies Kant, Engels, R0usseau, it will blow your mind.

Come on, you probably went to some Uni like Az. State or some such; I sure they had poly sci classes and stuff.

Understand what capitalism is and how it works, no system is good or bad. Its how we use it. Most efficient, Totalitarian Rule. Lease efficient, Democracy. But understand those are political systems. Now what balances out Democracy - capitalism. Its all about the balance of the needs of the many with the rights of the one with a touch of social mobility to keep them from taking all the cake.

Anyways blah blah blah

*economics and politics are two different things - or else they would not use two different words to describe them

    Consider these points..
Trump is not reliant on donors. This cannot be overstated enough. Not relying on donors – especially not following the Rubio-model of huge support from just a handful of individuals (as a Gawker piece rightly predicted last year) is crucial. No one will own Trump. Yet the Trump-attacking conservative pundits continue to scoff that he doesn’t have the cash to see this campaign through. This is an astonishing, frightening smear. Why? Because it means we no longer even bother with the pretense that money doesn’t buy an office.
We keep hearing from the Trump-naysayers that’s Trump’s mouth is a problem. But where you see a loudmouth, I see candor. Where you see a lack of filter, I see transparency. Where you see a man who gaffes, I see a man who is willing to wipe the cancer of political correctness out of our society. Where you see a loose cannon, I see a man who says what he means and means what he says. Or, would we rather the typical Hollywood celebrity or establishment politician (the two are remarkably similar) who runs a statement by 20 handlers, 10 advisers, and a social-media team before making it? Do we wish to be led by an individual who does not speak from the heart but rather prefers to be advised on what to say and when to say it? Do we wish to be led by a politician who waits to see how the polls emerge on a subject before issuing an opinion? Do you seek a president…. or a ventriloquist puppet who’s views who you do not truly know?
Hate to break it to ya’ – but we don’t have much of a voice. We have politicians who will throw us meaningless bones, corny platitudes about the “American dream”, and make big promises they will never keep. At the end of the day, all do their donors’ bidding, and the bidding of Big Business rather than ours. Try speaking up and you will be flattened. It takes someone powerful, who is beholden to no-one more powerful, to lift up our concerns. Thank heavens we have someone who understands those concerns and is willing to be that voice.
Then there’s the first lady…. http://hbz.h-cdn.co/assets/16/01/640x320/landscape-145192499...
