I read an article recently that almost all streaming music is doomed. It said spotify has never turned a profit and most other big names are in the red. The only ones you will see survive are Apple and Google just because they are backed by such huge parent companies. | | I swear by Google Play tbf. I could upload up to 50,000 mp3s I believe, for free - so I uploaded my collection - buy tracks when I want them.
Had subscription too for a bit - worked brilliantly, but I don't listen to enough new music to make it worthwhile, so I stick to the free service, and buy albums when I want em.
Chromecast on TV, and Chromecast Audio plugged into an old hifi, and hey presto, entire library everywhere.

My Google Play library has 207 artists, 343 albums.
If it's cheaper to buy an album on Amazon than Google, I buy the album, download it and upload to Google.
Oh okay, I've got 4,373 songs - I upload 3,705 of them. So I've bought ~600 songs apparently.
But yeah, subscribed, or free, they let you upload your own music.
If you do go this route, I urge you to get an ID3 tag editor, and make sure your tags are correct.

Honestly, I'm not sure I need it. Most of the house is already set up for my iTunes library, and that's where everything is already stored.

How many times can you listen to the same Karen Carpenter song?
I can hear it now, ... why do birds suddenly appear...

| | If you are already setup with that I would stick with it.
I started this thread to see what others are using and to hear pros/cons to them all. I have been using Google Play Music for years, but have recently checked out Apple Music and Spotify. I will likely just stick with Google even though I do like Spotify a bit better.
