I listen to it, it is enjoyable and he does try to make it his own with the staccato and drawn-out pronunciation but the true beauty of "Personal Jesus" FOR ME was Dave and Martin's dark yet institutional-like voices. The disturbance in Mason's version is exterior; the disturbance in DM's version is inside and much more dark.

South of Greenfield in Cali I was making an early morning run to a friend's place. Stoped to get a "double double" in my convertible. I was playing my play list, which has Lou Reed(acoustic) Jane playing.... Got to the window, the kid was gracious and said ... cool song, I like Heroin better... cool ride... bite is one me.
