Definitely don't want to see Texas go blue but this definitely isn't good optics. May be incidental; Cruz was already on vacation. Everyone's entitled to a little R&R. So this could be media sensationalism to deflect from Cuomo's covid incompetence. Did Cruz skip town to avoid the storm? If so, fuck him.
In any case, stay warm Mr. Walnuts! | | Fucking orange man was bad from the get go... Foh

Holy shit, what a pathetic, sniveling piece of shit.
Ted: "What am I supposed to do, I am only a Senator, not the governor! There's nothing I could do!"
<Cue the much-whined-about U.S Rep. for slices of Bronx and Queens 1,800 miles away raising three million fucking dollars for Texas in as much time as it takes brah to cap on a decent defense -- that is to say, lickety-split> Huh, looks like you could have done something, Teeeeed.
Come on, Teeeeeed.

High Hopes IS a fantastic song, though.... and a great way to close that album out. The video is really amazing.

High Hopes is on The Division Bell, I believe. That or The Delicate Sound of Thunder. I don't remember right now.
The Final Cut is the Waters wankfest that came out after The Wall.

You are correct. I just happened to be really drunk at the time of that post, so... I get a pass.
Still.... High Hopes is a great song, with a good video.

Since Ted got off the plane, he's really been working trying to save that dumpster fire of an image he has. For several days, he's posted photos on his FB page of him doing these little niddly civic-type things: Serving bbq to firemen (could have easily been serving himself), putting water in the back of some car (maybe his), stuff like that. Odd thing is, in all the pics HE'S WEARING THE SAME FUCKING CLOTHES HE WAS WEARING WHEN HE GOT OFF THE PLANE. It's apparent that they were taken within minutes of each other. What a dick.
But he did finally get all dressed up to go to DC today to demand that Merrick Garland promise, that as Attorney General, he would not be a political pawn of the President. Cuz, you know, we should be aware that Ted doesn't cotton to that shit.
Seriously, he did this.

So let me get this straight. Texas hit by a once in a generation artic storm, which their infrastructure was unprepared for. The main issue was that gas lines/pipes froze, correct? And to make matters worse there was disruption to wind turbines and solar power. And in both cases, whether renewable or non-renewable sources, when they were being installed the Texas government decided against paying extra to make sure they could function in low temperatures/snow.
| Ten years ago Texans were clearly warned of the need to weatherize their systems, but Republican governors failed for a decade to take the statewide actions that would have prevented the pain, misery, hunger and death that followed. | |
| Although renewable energy sources did partially fail, they only contributed to 13% of the power outages, while providing about a quarter of the state’s energy in winter. Thermal sources, including coal, gas and nuclear, lost almost twice as many gigawatts of power because of the cold, according to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the state’s electric grid operator. Critics have also noted that wind turbines can operate in climates as cold as Greenland if they’re properly prepared for the weather. | | `
The Republican reaction: - Governor Abbott and numerous others in positions of power immediately and inaccurately claimed that it was all the fault of renewable energy and by association, the big bad Dems - State senator Cruz booked a holiday to Cancun and dipped, then tried to lie his way out of it but was foiled by leaked text messages from his wife. Also went on Hannity's show and blamed the Green New Deal - The mayor of Colorado City made a statement saying that "only the strong will survive and the weak will perish", "sink or swim it's your choice" and that desperate people seeking help were "the product of a socialist government"... apparently unaware that we just got done with 4 years of a Republican administration and that Texas is mostly run by Republicans - Former Gov. Rick Perry suggested Texans preferred power failures to federal regulation - Fox News and hosts/guests continued to peddle lies to the American public: https://www.vox.com/2021/2/17/22287469/fox-news-winter-storm...`
The Democrat reaction: - While Texas senator Cancun Cruz fled, New York congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez flew to Texas to fundraise and hand out food and supplies. $5m raised so far - Beto O’Rourke immediately began soliciting donations for storm victims ($1.5m), drove 9 hours from his home in El Pasa to Austin to begin delivering pallets of water from his pickup truck to stranded residents and organized an effort to make wellness checks on seniors and the vulnerable - either by phone or knocks on doors (900k people reached) - Biden approved a major disaster without whining about them being a "red state" and without making false accusations and acting like a big baby
If anything sums up the difference between Democrats and Republicans nicely it's this. Do Republicans ever stop lying and behaving like utter cunts? The evidence repeatedly suggests the answer is No.
Oh yeah. Ted Cruz has voted against disaster aid for "blue states" on five separate occasions. Nice guy.

Don't be a lickspittle, a lil' bit of self respect. And the cheek of a Trumper to talk about covid incompetence and deflection... just lol. Like a miracle, I hope you disappear.
