My company paid for an audible subscription like 3 months ago so I could listen to business books. My commute is 45 minutes each way and I generally listen on 1.2-1.5x speed, so Ive blown through several titles already.
Is anyone else into audiobooks? I’m interested in your favorite business, personal development, or biographical audiobooks.
Favorites are below. Listen to Profit Works by Alex Freytag, Tom Bouwer on Audible. https://www.audible.com/pd?asin=B08P7W9D1F&source_code=ASSORA P0511160006 This is a well thought out way of structuring company incentive plans.
Listen to Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell on Audible. https://www.audible.com/pd?asin=B002UZDRK8&source_code=ASSORA P0511160006
Listen to Who Not How by Dan Sullivan, Dr. Benjamin Hardy on Audible. https://www.audible.com/pd?asin=1401960774&source_code=ASSORA P0511160006 I just listened to this for the second time last week and it has really shaped my perception of how to get things done in life. I’m actively trying to implement it.
Listen to Make Your Bed by William H. McRaven on Audible. https://www.audible.com/pd?asin=B06XKRF7TD&source_code=ASSORA P0511160006
And right now I am listening to this one about the guys who founded id software, maker of Doom and Quake.
Listen to Masters of Doom by David Kushner on Audible. https://www.audible.com/pd?asin=B008K8BQG6&source_code=ASSORA P0511160006

is the "Make your bed" a premise that making your bed first thing is the morning is a way to start your day of by completing a task....this idea has been in AA/NA for eons (not a bad idea)

Yes exactly. A quote from the speech he gave at the UT Austin commencement in 2014:
"If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another. By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that little things in life matter. If you can't do the little things right, you will never do the big things right.
And, if by chance you have a miserable day, you will come home to a bed that is made — that you made — and a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better.
If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed."

I should add that McRaven is a retired Admiral/Navy Seal who was involved in many of the most important military campaigns of recent history. The speech is on Youtube and both it and the audiobook are excellent.

This service is 15 bucks a month right? I've been considering it. I haven't read a book in a few years because by the time I'm done with work that last thing I want to do is keep reading stuff. It's a shame.

Yeah $15/mo gives you one "credit" per month to purchase a book, and you have unlimited access to a bunch of podcasts and a catalog of books that are included in the monthly fee (though I'm assuming they're mostly older stuff, public domain, etc because nothing I've searched for has been included in the fee so far.

| | Used to use this on my teenage boys.....they hated it, until they didn't and I didn't need to say it anymore.
*though I was exposed to this quote much earlier than 2014

I have the 12 month subscription, £120 or so for 24 credits. They gave me 36 credits in error. It's brilliant, especially when you can buy 30-50 hour book compilations for a credit.
I've listened to 25 days worth of audiobooks since Christmas. Before Audible I was too tired to read the books I have at home.. I'd start reading and then fall asleep. I listen to them on my commute to work and also for around three hours in work (depending on what I'm doing).
Audible also do £3 sales and 2 books for 1 credit deals. We got Audible Plus a month ago, with thousands of books available to read for free.

Any idea what it costs to PUT a book up on Audible? Assuming you "do it yourself" in making the audio file....
