Anyone have experience crypto mining? I just noticed Norton Anti-Virus has one built in for mining Etherum (ETH).
Norton makes an ETH wallet for your account when you subscribe, has its own network pool, pretty much just click a button and go. It mines until it gets to .004 ETH which you can then withdraw as cash depending on the exchange rates (1ETH ~ $3,200 as of this writing). I've got a 3070rtx and using Norton. I've seen rates as high as 200MH/s, which translates to about $13/day.
I spent a considerable amount of time experimenting with other miners. Only other one I was able to get to work was winETH, but I had to uninstall norton (no amount of playing with the firewall/auto protect settings stopped norton from blocking mining activity).
To use WinETH you have to setup an ETH wallet and enter the address. I used Nicehash for the wallet.
Problem with WinETH, I'm only getting rates of like 50MH/s which only translates to a few dollars a day.

Heh. You could have made more if you skipped the mining and just bought ETH :D. Isn't ETH mining going to be far less profitable once they make the switch to PoS anyways?
My buddy mines Helium, but I don't know much about it. Apparently it is profitable, though, but the miners are hard to get your hands on.

| | I don't have a real mining rig, so you're right. On the flip side, even generating $50 worth of ETH per day requires something like an 8-GPU assembly, the complete rigs I see going for (on the order of) $20k. Lots of variables/options, obviously. But yeah, it's a capital investment with a nominal 400 day payoff, so you're right too.
Illusion, do you have experience trading ETH, mining, or both?
Don't tell me to shut up. Just because I told you to shut up once doesn't mean you can do it to me.
I don't like it. | |

There are various exchanges where you can deposit fiat and sell for crypto and vice versa. I use multiple ones, none of which can be used in USA, so can't help you there. I believe most typically require you to complete an application and provide ID. Decentralized exchanges don't require this but they can be sketchy and are not new user-friendly.
