Something really bizarre happened the other day, and I don't think it's any coincidence.

Thursday, every time I walked downstairs to either let the dogs out or grab beer.... as I got to tbe bottom of the steps, I could see out of the corner of my eye, someone sitting on our couch. When I turned and looked directly at it... empty.

This didn't happen just once, it went on all day. I mentioned it to Katina, but she didn't have the same experience when she went down.

Saturday morning, I learn that Rose's second husband, the one who was willing to "make her happy" and sign the divorce papers, freeing her up to marry me, had died Thursday morning.

There's some history here, between him and I. When Rose and I first got together, she had walked out on him and they were technically "separated".

I've never spoken of this here, so this might get a little long. But you guys are always there for me.

The first time I met him, and he's a BIG guy. Easily topped 300 pounds, and stood nearly a head taller than me. Anyway, the first time I met him, he tried his best to intimidate me. I just smiled, because I'd brought guys his size down before.

Over time, though, he came to accept me in a more friendly manner. I built a relationship with their kids that I have to this day. Between the "kids" (they were teenagers when Rose and I got together, and both are in their 30s now), and my obvious devotion to Rose, topped off with the fact that I never tried to get involved in their (Rose and Spike's) conversations, earned some level of respect from him.

I believe he still cared for her, which is a connection we shared. I never considered him a threat or an enemy. He was "the previous husband". I had no grudge against him, as I didn't meet him until after I got with Rose. What happened between them, was between them.

When we approached him about signing the divorce papers, he was actually more cordial than I thought he might be. I explained to him that it was Rose's dying wish to marry me. Nothing was contested, as neither of them had anything of value. He clearly stated to me, "If that's what will make her happy, I'll do it." I thanked him, and I meant it.

I found a lawyer who, because of the circumstances, was able to expedite the process. We literally had it done in a few weeks. He even offered me a "wedding present" of $500 off the price if we got it done in time. I told him that the money wasn't important, just that we got it done in time.

We did. Spike met us at the courthouse, and I could tell he was disturbed at the sight of Rose. She had lost so much weight by that time, that she couldn't walk very far on her own, so we used a wheelchair.

Hell, it hurts to remember all this, but I need to get it out.

He did as he was asked, and the judge signed off it on. It was official, she was a free woman. We went directly to the office that issued marriage licenses and got one. There's a 2 day grace period in Maryland.... so we had to wait a couple of days before it could take place.

Got it done, though.

I've run into him at "family gatherings" for the kids, as well as the grand-kid. We've always been friendly to one another, since Rose died.

I've kept up on his health issues through Facebook. I've known he was going downhill for a long time. I have to admit, even with his health issues, I didn't expect him to go this soon. But I guess we all gotta go sometime.

I'm saddened by his death. I also wonder if that was him "visiting #3" that morning. I mean, we both had our love for Rose as a connection, especially once he accepted that it was real for us, and not some "revenge tactic" by her.

I know the kids are hurting, and I've offered my support to them. But there's not much I can do. I grew up without my parents, so I didn't have the same connection that they did.

My grandmother was in her 90s when she died, and it was more "Well, that's over" than "she was too young to go". It's hard to explain. I guess you're more prepared for it when someone gets that old. I don't know.

I don't fear death. As Yoda once said, "Luminous beings are we. Not this crude matter."

What awaits us after this life? I'm honestly not sure. But I know there's something. I've seen too much to think different. Not just heard people relate what they claim they've seen, what I've witnessed myself.

I have a paranormal story (I will tell some other time). And I say this not to be a story topper, or some type of ego wank, however to confirm that there may be things we can't explain in this universe happening now around us. I say this as a full bore skeptic. I have been witness to, as part of a group, an event that still to this day, puts my hairs on end. It was not a hoax and it was more physical than a visual glimpse (I have also had glimpse events).

In other words, what you saw was real... more than likely, and you aren't alone on that ship.

this is the way.

In 2000 - 2001 we lived on the bottom 2 floors of a house, main floor and walk-out basement. The bedroom was in the basement, with the bed positioned in such a way that we could see the stairs leading down from the kitchen. Our dog would sometimes sit on the bed and growl a bit at the stairs, but not often enough to think much of it, assuming it was the neighbours she was hearing. It was a semi-detached so one adjoining wall, adjacent and parallel to the stairs.

One night, no idea what time it was, I wake up. Wife and dog are asleep. I look around the room a bit, then stop at the stairs. And try to focus on it but couldn't. The only thing I could see in the near-darkness (there was a small amount of ambient light) was an patch towards the top of the stairs that was just...darker than it should have been. It freaked me out a bit because it just looked off, but I'm also one to assume there are rational explanations for phenomena until proven otherwise. So I rolled over and went back to sleep. Later nights if I woke up I would always look at that spot but it always looked 'normal'.

Fast forward to some point around 2010 or so. Wife and I are having a beer on the porch, talking about our dog, then deceased for a year or so, and the dumb shit she did. We talk about how she would growl at the stairs at our old place. I tell my wife about the experience above. She came back with.....holy shit me too.

We both went WTF and didn't stop talking about it for hours. The experience was identical, an amorphous patch of 'dark' that we instinctively knew shouldn't have been there.

during university, i had this odd wicker chair that sat in the corner of my bedroom, the back was radial and seemed like a left over from a Zardoz scene. Anyway, at that time I worked a couple of jobs and carried and overload, so sleep was ... limited.

I awoke one night to see a ... as best described slowly swirling black smoke, sitting in the chair. I looked at it for what seemed like long minute, my dry eyes aching; when it, the smoke, leaned forward and simply said or somehow communicated, in a very pleasant voice, that...to me... just (barely) veiled tremendous violence, so, it is not your time, but I do await you.

This has happened, over the years, some 3 times; each indicating that the time is getting shorter.

I have tried to ask questions; the later encounters have taken on longer lengths of time but it simply makes odd remarks or indicated things that have come to pass. Last one was about a decade ago, when my father passed. At that point, it pointed to our journey. Yeah, its a fucked up dream, and it gets weird when I have engaged in this past, but the voice, fuck so soothing and yet its like the female nurse before she pulls the plugs and smells as your last vision of this world.

There have been other things, and the prior post about the dark space...yeah I had one of those...

As you've described it, I want to hear this voice. The saner side of me says I don't want to hear this voice. The autistic in me says whisper sweet nothings in my ear, soothe me.

Oooookay so Dr. Gaba is gonna setup a med clinic for subscribers to this thread.

* Loads up bottles full of haldol and olanzapine *

I guess I have to see it to believe it, but I sometimes think you have to believe it before you see it to see it. The skeptics never seem to see stuff like this.

It was probably just The Holy Ghost Fucking with you all for believing in paranormal activity but not the Bible.

Today in game I took a tele to ele, met a Heavy in the flag room, grabbed the flag, and took it all the way to cap it (with HW running some interference.)

If that doesn't qualify as paranormal, I don't know what does.
