CPU slow enough to be a potential gaming bottleneck. Same with Intel HD graphics. Screen resolution's not great. At least go for 1080p. HDDs are frustratingly slow as primary drives. Should be an SSD, even if it's only 256GB. 16GB RAM is good for a modern laptop, but for this is overkill as there are so many other performance bottlenecks.

If you don't mind a little heft and blocky case design, maybe check out some old Lenovos?

I think the most advanced games I would be playing on it are 'Prototype' and 'Portal 2'
Seems like a bizarrely equipped computer, like no components really compliment each other.

My ancient Lenovo just died...

How ancient? Just curious, because I acquired a 2012 Lenovo T530 a couple years ago and made a bunch of cheap Ebay upgrades to it...

- 3.0/3.9GHz CPU https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/71096/
- 16GB RAM
- Added two more solid state drives for total of 3.
- ExpressCard PCIe extender for GPU that outperforms Intel integrated graphics.

I did eventually build a gaming desktop off Ebay for $360 (I already had spare drives, RAM and PSU):

- $12 CPU https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/77488/
- $100 case https://www.ebay.com/itm/303918016329
- $20 TPM
- $80 EVGA GeForce GTX 770 4GB GDDR5 PCI Graphics Card
- $135 motherboard + shipping (EDIT: oops, forgot the mobo.)

I'm not recommending any of this for you in particular, just offering creative alternatives to the crap "deals" that vendors try to foist on us.

No. The Latitude series is a solid workhorse. I have a 2015 E6540 to my right.

How old is the Lenovo? And by that, I really mean is it worth salvaging. If under ~10 years old - and depending on hardware, it could easily run W10 with an SSD.

If the laptop in question has a mechanical HDD, pass. Find a friend who can reinstall an OS on a new SSD. I just upgraded a co-worker's laptop to an SSD from a 7200 RPM mechanical drive, he thinks I'm a wizard.

Edit: I re-read the specs and it's an HDD. It's a decent machine but performance will suffer without an SSD.
