VR is the first step towards holograms.

Ya VR looks neat. I'm gonna have to get one of those headsets one of these days.

I don't know what it is but I think I'll be a Half Life and Half Life mods fanboy till the day I die. It more or less took about 20 years for counter-strike to get stale for me (I still play it now and then but not like I used to) and I made the switch to TFC sort of on a whim. More that I'm very cheap and a bit of a minimalist so figured why not give this game a shot. So if like counter-strike it takes 20 years for TFC to get stale I'll be in my 50's by then.

I see graphics like this and they look nice, but good graphics does not necessarily mean good gameplay.

Can't justify buying a VR headset right now because I insist on waiting until today's top-of-the-line ones drop in price. I want huge FOV and the highest refresh rate and don't want to compromise on either.

But as a goof, I rigged up one of those smartphone headsets with Half-Life VR. And even with the terrible resolution, FOV and framerate, it felt considerably more immersive than regular Half-Life.

Ultimate Battlefield 3 simulator from 11 years ago. 360 degree rollers you walk on which makes your in-game character walk forward. Real life paintball guns aimed at your body shoot at you anytime your in-game character gets shot.

Now I just wish we could replace that game from the linked YouTube 2012 video with this new real life videogame "Unrecorded" you guys are talking about & let the trauma begin! Or better yet, try Drippy's TFC with that setup. Extra hard paintball shot at you when you get hit by a sniper in-game. Setup a bucket of water overhead programmed to dunk you with water if you fall off the 2fort bridge, lol. Get creative with caltrops or pyro damage.

VR tech has gotten better, that's likely the future. However this idea of paintball guns shooting you when you get shot in-game or being able to move your character based on your real life movements is still interesting.
