Poll: Will you continue to use Windows 10 after support ends in Oct. 2025?
Yes (33%)
No (67%)
Poll has ended (it ran for 14 days). 3 total votes.
So my laptop can run windows 11 but it seems my desktop’s CPU didn’t make it on the list which is weird because it is the best price per performance Intel CPU from 3 years ago when I built the tower I’m currently using. I heard Microsoft won’t be adding more CPUs to their “list” and claim no fault if something goes wrong if you manage to install windows 11 on a non approved CPU from either AMD or Intel. Guess I should start considering building a new tower when October 2025 rolls around (EOL date or windows 10). Anyone going to keep using windows 10 regardless or upgrade as well?

I hate the layout of Windows 11. I'll stick with Windows 10 for as long as possible and then take my chances on a non-approved CPU for Win 11 if I must.

Might also see how far Linux has come with their Windows emulation: WINE, Bottles, Proton, etc.

I'm in a similar situation, can't upgrade to windows 11 with my current hardware.

I don't want to identify if Intel has an amd version of "infinity fabric" bullshit where they "glue" cores or clusters of cores together adding micro latencies. Going to be a real headache shopping for a new gaming pc. I don't give a shit about the worlds race to get as many processor cores into a workstation at the expense of an ultra low latency first person shooter experience. Probably the smartest move would be building a new computer with new parts Black Friday 2025.

Windows 12 is coming either this summer OR late 2024/early 2025. Buying hardware black friday of 2025 gives you several advantages:

*More options for Windows 12 compatible parts
*More likely your new build will be compatible with a future Windows 13/14 to avoid another forced rebuild
*Let others praise their joy or vent their frustrations as Windows 12 corrupts partitions or brings surprises to the world.

Windows 11 end date should be around 2031 roughly as it was launched in 2021.
(win7 launched 2009, support ended 2020; win10 launched 2015, support ends 2025)

The 0day exploits & Operating System big flaws nobody knows about will be worth significantly more after Microsoft's support deadline as always. Secret vulnerabilities kept for months or possibly years suddenly get sold & used globally, so it's progressively dangerous to go online using any operating system that goes unpatched by Microsoft updates.

Your processor may be fine; be sure the TPM is enabled in the BIOS.
