Ohhh, ya ya.. I remember Black Mesa that was a good game a good remake. I been waiting for another remake of Opposing Force it looks good. I think it's called Operation: Black Mesa on Steam. | |

Not offensive, but awesomely awesome and brutally brutal for the time, but Soldier of Fortune 2 was a blast. Both single player and online. The gibs in the game was second to none. | |

When Valve officially began backing 'Black Mesa' it was as close as we'll get to HL3 and the best (and last) of the Source engine. Even though it's conception was to be a remake of HL, it is an entirely different game that is considered HL3 by some.

Black Mesa is not even close to what Half Life 3 would be. It's a remake of Half Life 1 on a more modern game engine.
Pretty sure I have an old Alpha release of it one of my drives somewhere, but it's moot at this point. They've pretty much finished the game, and it's damned good. Is it the SAME as the original Half Life? No. But it wasn't meant to be. Call it a "Reboot", or "Reimagining", but call it a decent game no matter what you do. Kinda like how Fortress Forever was a reboot/remake of Team Fortress Classic.... it's not exactly the same, but it's still a damned fun game (if you can find someone to play it with that won't pwn your ass within 2 minutes). | |

TF2 is no threat to TFC in my book. I actually enjoy it late at night before I go to bed. It's the Candy Crush of first-person shooters, specifically MvM.
I know that many of you flip out like Warren from There's Something About Mary when something as benign as friendly fire is enabled for an hour a week. But I actually like a little variety in my games. TFC is the de-facto FPS in my book; nothing comes close. But I'll also play TF2, Monkey Island and Sea of Thieves for a little whimsy in my gaming experience. | |

Very occasionally a frequently playing tf2 gamer stumbles onto Drippys & is eager to educate players here all the reasons that tf2 is a superior game. I enjoy observing crazy from a distance. Attempting to view their reasoning & take their points seriously is so hard though.
More players in tf2 does not equal success or higher quality of content. I don't judge success looking at temporary popularity.
Gamers had an eagerness to tweak their games and operating system and had patience to develop a deeper understanding of a game twenty years ago.
Today gamers are lazy & easily distracted. Do gamers want to growing skills, rotating through different classes, learning all the game mechanics? No. Gamers today want to win or quit immediately the first day they try a computer game. And a stupid game has a higher chance of winning right off the bat, where there are no tools to become better like in many modern games. | |
