Never knew this was a thing you could not inherit a deceased person’s Steam account. I personally have tons of games on mine. And I am probably going to add more to it over the years. I would assume anyone with the username and password could access it and I highly doubt Steam is going to request a proof of death certificate or something lol. But if I did die I’d pass it to my wife and/ or kids to utilize but at that point in the future idk if the games on there would be relevant lol.

It doesn't really matter. Give your family the password and they can play your games as long as they want. They should buy their own games on a separate account. Steam won't know when you die and by the time they figure it out the account should be long dormant because honestly nobody will bother with your old ass games 20+ years from now.

Yeah, they're real sticklers. After I finally got over my grudge I had with Valve switching from WON to Steam (Steam at first was extremely buggy and it was impossible for me to play counter-strike at the time) along with a general gaming hiatus I find when I go to log in that I need to submit a confirmation and I get in the email tied to the account. The thing is, the domain I had the email on was no longer there. A classic catch-22. When I told Valve about this they wanted to a screenshot see my CD-Key from the original Half-Life CD the account was tied to. I was overseas here in Israel at the time and luckily my Mom found it, took the picture and sent it to me. Only then, would my Steam account get reactivated.

While I think these accounts should be transferrable I think there is a loophole built in to the licesne agreements. If I recall correctly, with Blizzard games, perhaps even most games you download online like on Steam these days, you don't actually own the game per se, rather you own the license to play the game.

Imagine your poor uncle Alfred has passed & his will is being read. Family members hoping to get the car or his gold watch. But the gamer is hoping for his uncle Alfred's very low digit steamid!

Knocking books off your uncles bookshelf, insisting he wrote down the password to his 4 digit ICQ number somewhere too! haha

Just realized my steamid was made October 2nd 2003, just 22 days after the first one on September 10th, 2003.

Drippy's is September 22nd, 2003 even older!

I don't know about you guys, but I do have a "Password Book" with everything needed in it for the eventuality of my demise.

I even have a couple of self-deprecating memes ready to go for when it happens.

Y'all know my mentality: If you can't laugh at yourself, you have no right laughing at anyone else. That goes for life AND death!

    Iggy,

If I am around to witness your demise I will do my best to laugh at that time. You deserve nothing less. :)
