Just checking to see if any of the northeastern folks would want to get together for a day and hang out? We can pick something central to everyone to minimize everyones driving times. Just thought it'd be cool to get some lunch/have a beer (or 12)/hug each other | |

Define "North East".....
Technically, I'm "Mid-Atlantic", and to be honest, I can't afford to drive very far. However, I could toss an idea for a meet up place that I can make it to.....
I don't know if any of you guys are into this kind of thing.... but it's an idea:

It's a popular meet up spot for Arcade Game collectors, has decent prices for both food and beer, and all of the arcade games have 1980's prices.
As it stands, I *MIGHT* be going to Philidelphia this summer for the "Too Many Games" event, but that's still up in the air right now. The one thing I don't like about it, is that it's not 24/7 like MAGFest is.
I like this idea... but sadly, I'm very restricted on where I can go, and when. | |

I would definitely want to do this but scheduling will be tough for me. And Saturdays are always a no for me so either a weekday or Sunday only. I’m on the NY/NJ border. | |

Hey, Jik... have you heard about the event "Too Many Games"?
It's held in Philidelphia.... I went there last year, and had a blast.
Right now, though... there's a potential problem with me being able to go this year. I'd love to, but there's a transportation problem that needs to be resolved first.
The fucked up thing is that I won't know for sure until much closer to the event. | |

Looks like a cool event. I'll see if I can convince the fam to let me head to Philly on that Sunday. Unlikely but maybe. What is your transportation issue? | |

Philly definitely not the North East, at least to us New Englanders. I love Philly and spent some time there but probably wouldn't drive down just to meet D2F people, no offense.
NYC is probably the most viable option but in my opinion it'd be better outside of the major city and more like Poughkeepsie or something. | |

It would be mad kicks to meet up with some of you guys. This year we'll be flying directly to Denver with a connection, so no possibility of a meet up for me. The past two years it was less expensive to stay 2 nights in Boston on our way to Colorado, including the hotel mind you, than to fly to Denver with a layover. That is not the case this year. The war over hear really fucked up things including vacation and work schedule. I usually get a month off to visit family but I'm going to have to settle with just over three weeks. I'm going to miss my Boston fix. I love walking Boston Common.
Maybe if I treat the wife real good I can go to a quake con or something. That's a favor bank there, leaving the wife with the kids for a whole weekend. | |

Katina is looking for a new job, and if she finds one, she'll need the car to get to and from it. Last year, she dropped me off on Thursday, and picked me up on Sunday. But also, the guy I'm going to the event for wants me to drive his truck there, but I'd have to be dropped off in West Virginia a week ahead of time to do so. He's bringing TWO truck loads of games to the event this year, so there's no one available to drive his personal truck. The venue is far enough away from the hotel we stayed at that I'd never be able to make that trip walking, even with my walker. So, a normal passenger vehicle will be necessary.
So, either Katina would have to drive me to West Virginia (and subsequently have to pick me up there), or, if she's still working at Amazon with our son, he could drive them to work in his car and I could take ours up to Phili.
Or... I simply won't be able to go. That whole West Virginia thing is just too much, in my opinion. That's easily a full tank of gas for each trip, and we're barely scraping by as it is.
As much as I enjoy events like that... I can't justify certain things in order to go. Even just renting a car for the weekend would be out of the question.
At least MAGFest is only an hour and change away from home, the event runs 24/7, and I can handle the walking because the venue is attached to the hotel. I just need to make sure that next year, I take a lot more beer, and a good number of Monsters with me. | |

philly is a shit hole nowadays
i was also thinking somewhere north of the bronx outside of the city itself...like westchester, rockland, etc... so not too far off base | |

I've met a total of three D2fers over the years, almost met a 4th but he died before it happened. Not sure if anyone remembers him, Senor.
It's weird as hell talking to someone in person about the idiosyncratic shit related to this server, game, and players lol
