Sometimes you must take steps to make gaming exciting and force yourself to feel alive again. Let's get silly & think about how to spice things up. Some of us have been gaming & working in the same room and chair for years. There's lots of different motivators, but let's just jump straight into the strongest emotion of them all: fear. What other silly situations would force your gaming session to be exciting, distracting or invoke a sense of fear or some other state of mind?

Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my!
Befriend a zookeeper & ask them if it's okay if you play some old video games next to their tiger cage during feeding time. While you're playing 2fort, the angry sounds of tigers suddenly elevate your attention to a whole new level. You're now playing like a kid full of sugar experimenting with his grandmas restless leg medications. Rotate gaming sessions next to the bear and lion cages too when feeling the warm breath of starving tigers fails to make your heart race like a hummingbird!

Big bang theory
Drive around looking for a historic thunderstorm & play tfc on your laptop nearby. The unpredictable hair raising crackle will keep your eyes wide open unlike anything else. If there are no storms in your area, buying dozens of party balloons and asking a fat kid holding a needle to randomly pop them can work too.

The Big Picture
So i've heard some movie theaters allow you to "rent" time in certain theaters for your device to be shown on their extra large silver screens when sales are low & rooms are otherwise empty. Not sure if its $50 to $75 an hour or what, just has to be a device that has an HDMI port. The response time lag will likely be poor, but just imagine the experience of playing 2fort on an 80 ft screen while your shoes stick to the gum & soda on the floor. From which direction out of the 42 speakers did that grenade prime come from!? Would be so fun to try for just an hour.

Lowered Expectations
Imagine a desktop computer on a desk along with yourself sitting on a platform suspended by chains hovering over a giant pool of water. Everytime the enemy team captures the flag, your platform is lowered closer to the pool of water below. After the enemy captures a few flags, your ankles feel the cold water. The image in your mind of sparks exploding across the surface of the pool as your computer's power supply begins to submerge brings your youthful spirit & passion for winning a round of 2fort back to life.

I'm having trouble getting into any other game.

Keep coming back to D2F.

Most recently got Back for Blood, saw Nookie playing it. It's decent but I've stilled played TFC more than I've played back for blood lately.

Anyone else have B4B might want to team up.

snips what other games do u play.

i played the new call of duty with pepperjack, that was genuinely a lot of fun, have hardly played since.

battlefield 2042 is pretty fun but i'm not good at it.

I'm guilty of not trying new titles more than I should be. My Nvidia 1080 is kind of dated, but even the new games I tried 3-4 years ago all felt hollow and ultimately boring. Older games used to inspire the best of other games or take risks and not outright clone one another. Newer games seem to be designed as a fast cash grab, and to earn the developers money after they quickly end up in the $10 bin on steam.

These are my favorites

X-Com: UFO Defense. $5
https://store.steampowered.com/app/7760/XCOM_UFO_Defense/

After you own that game on steam, next you install the free openxcom, and the same game is now 1080p or 2160p(4k) instead of 320p. The new remastered version is sharper and has dozens if not hundreds of tiny life improving upgrades like pre-priming grenades. X-Com1 was rated the #1 game of all time back in like 2009 or around then by PC Gamer and for good reason. The original game came out in the 90s and on dos, but Openxcom changes it to work in windows with a cloned and upgraded engine. This game is more addicting then anything other than TFC.
https://openxcom.org
Please note: this is NOT the X-Com Enemy Unknown that came out around 2012 which was a complete remake. This was worse then TF2 imho, lol.

IGN named X-Com: UFO Defense as the number one top PC game of all time in 2000 while calling it "the finest PC game we have ever played", and 2007 ("there's still no PC game that can compete with the mighty X-COM"), as well as ranking it as the second top "modern PC game" in 2009.
Played the hell out of Command and Conquer Remastered on PC. My god that is addicting too. $20

PC Games I plan to revisit soon again:

Giants: Citizen Kabuto
Need For Speed (Run, underground)

N64 Emulators. Can play Nintendo 64 games in 4k. It's surprising how many textures are actually bigger & sharper then you'd expect. The surprising details of Zelda Ocarina of Time or Banjo & Kazooie where unseen details can actually look amazing in 4k. No idea why a bug has blinking eyelids when a console was designed to display at 320x240p on a 30" tv viewed 20ft away. USB N64 controller to complete the feel too!

Might try the older PC Painkiller first person shooters again too as it's been years, the very first one was amazing.

Because it's a silly thread already...

What if:
Ralphy bot from Drippys became our new us president. He's currently using 1% of a quad core processor in NJ, now just imagine how powerful of an asshole he could be using words if given access to a million CPU processors! Gaba couldn't compete with a supercharged Ralphy reading hundreds of libraries searching for that perfect burn to reply to someone.

What if:
A trans (born male, appears/identifies female) became the next US President. Declarations of the first woman president would be heard. Others would proclaim they would tolerate this, but just not someone born as a female. Some would celebrate this as acceptance of both female leadership as well as trans rights. Many women would see this as the most insulting accomplishment in the women's rights movement to date: Crowning a born male but trans individual as the first woman president.

What if:
What if after we die of old age laying in our beds, we end up inside the respawn room of 2fort with our physical bodies replaced by the cartoon game characters. Surrounded by friends & enduring no pain, rounds of 2fort playout for an eternity. Your friends & family rotate into your 27 slot game once every few hundred years. But for some reason Kilmov shows up nearly every other day. Drippiology - I'm starting a new religion.

There is an old panel comic I saw once and haven't been able to find in a decade. It's Mario saving the princess and then going on to have a family and lead a rich, rewarding life. And then he's on his deathbed. And then...

...he's back at level 1-1 thinking "What the fuck?!"

I want an open world terminator game where you can play either as the resistance or skynet. Mixture of first person shooter and God's-eye-view strategy game?

The terminator resistance map where u can play as the terminator was pretty cool but otherwise pretty lame game.
