Amazon's Prime Day where many things are discounted this year is today July 16th and will end July 17th evening at midnight pacific time.

What useless junk from China will bring me happiness in the moment. Like every year during this event, the biggest discounts are on the amazon brand merchandise but I'm already seeing stuff I saved for later with very nice discounts.

Going to pickup two 2.5Gbps unmanaged ethernet switches, whole house will be 2500Mbps now. Waiting until black friday 2025 before building a whole new gaming computer for windows 12.

Remember, Optimus Prime DIED in 1986 to bring you this day! So Fucking USE it!

Also, my wife and son work at Amazon, and have to pick up extra shifts over the next few days.... so put them to work.

God I'm going to regret this, but I'm also too curious. Going to buy a new mouse to test with, even though I've been using the Logitech MX518 since like 2005 or whenever it came out.

Forget if it was UPSET or Pepperjack that said a new mouse along with a new display can be incredible for reactions.

Saw the 0.1ms click delay on the reviewlist link at the very bottom costs $136, however the 2nd fastest is on sale for Prime day for $35 today ($50 normally) with the link below.

I still have my original Razor ultrawide ball mouse from the late 90s in the attic I only used for a month, haha.

Here is an interesting comparison list of mice being kept upto date below specifically for click latency. Type your model in the searchbox & learn some stuff. Sensors & other stuff are probably important too but this click latency is making me curious. I figure I can return this if the shape truly is horrible or I can't feel a difference.

Why un-managed? You never know when you'll need to vlan a port. Always go managed. I have 6 vlans on my local network. I don't trust IoT devices or my children lol.

My firewall has 2.5gb ports but my managed switches are still gigabit ports.

I heard a rumor that my local fiber provider may start offering 2gig service. If they do that I will probably upgrade to 2.5gb managed switches.

I have a cart full of 3d printer filament which will probably be all I buy this Prime season, although I do need a mouse quick enough I can get a few shots off at Statix. I currently have a logitech M720 which is a good mouse for the office and multi devices but it doesn't stand much of a chance against Statix.

I've tossed around printing this

but I doubt the mouse kit is anywhere near the quality of a gaming mouse :P

Its funny you say this because Amazon has so many Chinese products and brands. Not to be THAT guy, but imagine if they forced American-made products on us rather than Chinese brands with horrible directions that don't have proper English. I buy a lot of Chinese crap on Amazon and every time I do I feel a little guilty because fuck the PRC.

Nothing good this year. I’ve been tracking it all day yesterday for changes. A couple items I needed were on a good sale like a fitted bed sheet and mattress topper but nothing else really. I collect/ cook on cast iron but the ones I wanted weren’t on sale but I’m holding out just in case whenever it updates if lodge is gonna make things on sale on their Amazon store front.

Amazon not always the best deal I bought a Alienware Aurora R16 Gaming Desktop saved $600 and was able to customize it. Dell is having black July Friday deal for 10 more hours.

I've never used a vlan before. Both of my unmanaged tplink gigabit switches have been chugging along for like 12 years and have never crashed or been a problem. I freaking love those.

TP link's new 2.5 ones use a small case & without a fan that came out in april 2024 with purely positive reviews too so far. Will be nice to not flood the network when moving files around. I can still set some qos & lan port priority on them but for the most part just let them work behind the scene.

Getting 10Gb switches is such a bad idea currently. They're 5x bigger, loud with a fan and expensive as hell. Another 4+ years and they'll be cheap & remade to be small too as technology improves.

Ah nice LG. Yeah I saw Newegg also have a big sale, even logitech is having a big July 16th and July 17th only sale. Cashing in on the publicity & hype.

I bought a new mouse & two new mousepads, most were about half off or so today on Amazon. Picked out a new router & soundbar for my dad. Black friday is still the biggest sales time of the year overall. Sounds like Microsoft Windows 12's release date is likely to be moved back to October or November 2025 at the same time Windows 10 support ends.

Yeah, 10g is overkill in most home-use cases. Never used a 10g switch, but I have 10g PCIe NICs and motherboards with onboard 10g. It was only for connecting SAN storage to hypervisors.

Working on an OPNsense router on an intel N100 micro PC. 4 x 2.5g NICs.
