Many of us are older than the age cutoff where we had the benefit of early childhoods more or less without the ubiquity of internet and screens. So if we have ADHD, it's probably real.

I'm not saying most kids nowadays have "fake" ADHD, but there's something wrong when every fourth person under 30 I meet tells me about their "ADHD." It's either a fashionable thing to claim for oneself or maybe, just maybe, it's not advisable to let a tablet raise your toddler.

ADHD is a fake condition, dreamed up by Big Pharma to push drugs (at a hefty markup mind you..) onto the cattle. Anyone who says they have it is just either an attention seeker, a loser unable to take responsibility for being a knobhead, or an immature adult looking for excuses.

TFC is suitable for so many people here due to their autism, which IS real, due to all the vaccinations.

I had two knowledgeable friends suggest I had ADHD in college when I was 19 (2004). They pointed out some things about my habits/lifestyle that I never noticed were different from people around me and those differences stayed consistent for many years. They were both OCD and one had antisocial personality disorder as well so I think they had more exposure and less stigma around mental health than I did. They were both very intelligent too.

Fast forward 14 years and a lot of frustration, and I got diagnosed and medicated. Changed my life for the better in many ways.

Been hearing I have ADHD for most of my adult life by some close to me.
I was and still am a day dreamer.
I've got a hard time focusing sometimes, which ultimately hurts me at work, yet I always get the job done somehow. Routinely worked 10+ hr days at my last job, and I'd like to think I could have shrunk that down to a normal 8 hrs if I had been properly medicated and/or motivated. I don't take anything for it because I'm not huge on pills that fuck with your brain chemistry. But I've heard from various people that they help.

You don't have to go to 11 with all your takes. Were you ever taken to the doctor as a baby because your parents thought you were going deaf?

Apparently the DSM classifies ADHD as being on the autism spectrum.

Been there.

They help. I'm prone to not taking meds or at least underdosing for the same reasons. But at a certain age, you may find it's time to bite the bullet, take your legal meth, accomplish more shit and get on with your life.

Yeah I only caved to see a doc after losing two jobs in under two years when I absolutely knew I was capable of excelling at them. I just couldn't pull myself together to do it right at the moment I needed to do so. Meds help me control the timing of my focus more than anything. I think anyone with ADHD can hyper focus sometimes but it's usually not easy to control when.

One thing I'll add is I believe weed actually makes my attention worse, unless I'm doing something I love like music or gaming.

I'm afraid to even talk about it with my Dr.
Not sure why. I also don't like my primary care too much.

Same. Too much of it is not good for me. But in small amounts, it helps with anxiety.

For me, ADHD had to be discovered. I never suggested it. I think it's because of the proliferation of Adderall prescriptions and its notoriety for recreational use. I never wanted to portray myself as seeking meds.

LOL! I can see the autism angle. I'd appreciate your elaboration on the matter. Although, I can see more the appeal of real time strategy games for autists than TFC. I'm not diagnosed but I reckon I'm at least some what on the spectrum as I used to spend hours on command and conquer red alert building a base after leaving one of the enemy harvesters left. The base was also perfectly symmetrical. You don't even want to hear how I would organize legos by type and color.

I found out recently a friend of mine is on ADD/ADHD meds, don't know which he has. I tried to get diagnosed so I get get an adderall script. The problem was I went into the clinic all, "I need some adderall, I think I have ADHD." I'm glad they didn't try to push that shit on me. I took my fair share of adderall and concerta, maybe I tried ritalin but for sure those first two back in college and man that stuff is whack. I think the problem for me was I was using it to pull an all nighter. Then would come the crash around 4-6 in the morning when I would then drink about two or three starbucks double shot espressos back when I was a moron and drank starbucks and chain smoke cigarettes to release more dopamine. Then come noon I was just completely destroyed.

I won't go so far to say it's a made up condition, there's that buddy of mine, real smart, I mentioned before, and Jik here saying he lost two jobs not being able to focus. I think sometimes parents are too zealous in getting their kids prescribed the dope pills to clam their kids down. When really, all they need to do, is take their kids to the park for an hour to let out their energy.

Personally, for me I can't have a lot on my plate. I get all flustered and panic that one thing isn't being done fast enough so lets try the other thing that it turns out I don't really know what to do then there's the other thing that I am good at but it's boring then it's back to the first thing. If I have one thing and one thing only and can be lasered focus is when I'm at my best. Thankfully I don't need speed. More speed for you, Jik!

P.s., my guilty pleasure in college was during one of my adderall all nighters to reward myself of a night's work while still buzzed on adderall would be to watch an hour or two of porn and pull a PeeWee Herman in a movie theater if you catch my drift.

Apparently the DSM classifies ADHD as being on the autism spectrum.

The medications galvanize the pre-frontal cortex by increasing dopamine. The purpose of the pre-frontal cortex is to regulate the rest of the brain. We know this from studying the brain imaging. ADHD gets over diagnosed. Authentic cases easily qualify as a disability.
