Authorities confirm redesign of US dollars

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/authorities-confirm-...

They're doing this to counter counterfeiting & is set to roll out over the next decade. Article mentions these are when the newly designed US bills will first enter circulation:

USD 5 bill 2032-2035
USD 10 bill 2026
USD 20 bill 2030
USD 50 bill 2028
USD 100 bill 2034-2038

Wow, checkout these concept designs of US currency dollar bills by some artist, I don't think these are real. Not sure if I love or hate them, such a massive change.

I have a scared feeling the redesign will be cartoony, have QR codes & the paper changed to a plastic or something stupid. Hopefully they don't go too crazy with changes.

It's likely they'll all be almost identical to the $10 bill if I had to guess since that's arriving in 2026. It would be crazy for each one to look totally off from one another. Maybe subtle hologram/paper changes in the coming decade for added security or something.

Interested to see how many people will rely on physical money in the 2030s and beyond.
We are obviously moving more and more towards digital coins, though hard to see where that'll end up as well.

Having a CBDC would be incredibly bad for people. That stands for a Central Bank Digital Currency, basically a national currency that is digital only. The idea is if a pandemic in the future occured & everyone was going to be sent money, instead of dealing with checks and other methods it could be sent out digitally to every citizen. Now being completely digital, it would likely either have EBT (food stamp) only properties or it could be spent like regular money however they would likely add a 1 month or 3 month expiry to the funds. Whatever you didn't spend will get automatically sent back to the government.

The government would monitor and track all digital funds, various third party government partners/contractors would get access to spending & metadata. The freedom pretty much goes away from a citizen. The only benefit is this would end counterfeit bills.

The US Dollar needs to be backed by something like how it used to be Gold. Changing the design of the paper or transforming it into a digital coin doesn't change the fact we're printing 38 million notes a day with a face value of approximately $541 million. Most are used to replace notes already in circulation, however China & other foreign countries are likely making fake US bills in circulation. China is estimated to produce 80% of the world's counterfeit goods in 2021.

I think it'll eventually be Bitcoin as a store of value, which is a way of realizing a form of digital gold. It lacks mainstream banks to hold it but that will come in a few more years. The unpredictable supply of gold from new sources on earth or the eventual asteroid mining changes the "rare" status it's had for thousands of years. Whereas there's no more bitcoins floating underground or in space, the supply gets cut in half every 4 years for the next 100 years.

I’m not banking on digital or cash assets. My strategy is to buy homes. $69k HELOC goes to the underwriter today, gonna buy another home, on my way to expanding my budding empire. Mother fucking Trump watch out.

Can’t wait until I’m rich enough to start grabbing people right by the pussy. Or dick.

The trucker protest in Canada should be all we need to scare us away from a CBDC.

This HELOC thing sounds like what my grandpa did so as to be able to take out a big ass loan and start his business. He put the family house as collateral. Not sure if they were the same thing, this was like 70 years ago. What interest rate are you getting? I see they are as low as 7% APR; I'm guessing that whole, "if you go into default then we get your fucking house" is the reason for the low interest rate. I guess whatever works. It seems like you've found your hustle. Get another house on that monopoly board! Don't hate the player, hate the game. Not gonna lie, I'm a little jealous; I'm almost 40 now and don't even have a mortgage on a house yet.

I've put academia on a pedestal going for a PhD. I'm using debt (loans) to finance myself ,not $500k in debt after a B.A. in lesbian studies debt, but a little debt, while using dividends from equities I purchased years before with money I saved to pay off the monthly loan payments. The interest on the loans is a pittance to what I'm earning on the market so I think I made the right choice. My hope is to either get a cushy academic position where the pay is decent with excellent job security or better yet make a billion dollar exit in some startup. The latter option of course involves more risk but the former... but I don't think I see myself in academia beyond postdoctorate. At a certain point you are no longer actually doing science but are playing an executive role; like talking shop with people from various funds to get grant money for various projects where your PhD students do all the scientific work.

The HELOC interest rate is higher than 7.5%. It'll be used as a down payment on another home.

He put the family house as collateral. Not sure if they were the same thing

Yes, that's exactly the idea, but it's taken out against a home I don't live in, a rental property.

You can keep recycling this money as equity loans to buy cash-generating assets. This is the most realistic way I see of me getting loaded. I already feel loaded. It's been very hard to get here.

I've put academia on a pedestal going for a PhD.
I put academia on a pedestal after seeing two of my professors earn their doctorates.

I dreamt of higher education to become a psych nurse practitioner but that field did NOT pan out for me.

My hope is to either get a cushy academic position where the pay is decent with excellent job security or better yet make a billion dollar exit in some startup

My cousin Gregory landed a six figure salary job with a doctorate in microbiology, which I believe is similar to what you're doing.

Once you get to that point, you'll have plenty of cash to start investing in real estate should you want to do the landlord thing like I'm doing.

You'll be able to find either a cushy academic position, or a really high-paying in industry. You'll be fine.

Same with Xen0, you're both impressive.

LoL can you even fathom that Xen0 has a serious and seriously intelligent side the guy is the dumbest fucking moron both on here and in the discord.
