Just watched a movie called Idiocracy from 2006 for the first time, a comedy movie about a man who goes into hibernation for 500 years by accident to awaken into a world filled with idiots. Markets run by Carls Jr, city sized costcos & we have starbucks printed on our national currency. The law isn't taken seriously & neither is the pride of the United States, something which has slowly been becoming a reality the past 20 years in my opinion.
In the movie the idea is that society gets dumber until we eventually arrive at that level in the year 2505. Parts of the movie are downright scary today, predicting employees in the future would be unable to speak or think, so they need to press an app sized emoji icon on a device, yet this movie was out before Smartphones were invented.
Opening scene was quite hilarious/depressing since it's true. It would've been silly in 2006 because your average person back then could've read 2 pages in a book without fainting or remembered 4 numbers in their head for longer than 30seconds unlike today.
Opening Scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP2tUW0HDHA 1minute Costco clip in the year 2505, where the building is so huge it takes hours to cross by shuttle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdNmOOq6T8Y

You'd seriously never seen Idiocracy? One of my all-time faves. HMU if you want to talk way too much about it.

I liked the BOLO alert for Luke Wilson's character that was shown on the big screen monitors. It listed about three or four bullet items detailing what he was wanted for and the last one was something like "Fucked a bunch of stuff up"

I swear to god I have not even heard of it before. I was forced to deal with some really stupid people yesterday & I was frustrated, so I gave the movie a shot & it was great.
Mind you, there were more kicked in the nuts jokes back in the late 90s so I watched it with the understanding of the 2006 era.
People that disliked it in the reviews I think are under the impression that the public are the smartest we've ever been today in 2025 and couldn't understand this movie. The most insane delusion is when people think Americans are getting thinner and smarter, there are definitely people that think this even though the internet exists. Literally just going to walmart and I bump into some low IQ and/or mental customers & workers.
The country is going to shit, so you can get mad or laugh about it when forced to deal with idiots.

When the movie came out in 2006:
A Taco Bell Chalupa was $1.50 ($5.19 today) Average Gold per oz was $604 ($2,934 today)
In the movie it costs thousands of dollars for a taxi ride in the future, because in 2006 they thought inflation was getting bad with a Taco Bell bean burrito costing 79 cents compared to 1990. They predicted the average person would be watching a 70 inch tv, assuming they'd be affordable since in 2006 it was like $2000 for a 60inch projection 1080p 18inch deep tv. Such a "hang on the wall" ultra-flat tv's price in 2006 shown in the movie would've been $50k or more, but today is like $600.
Most people in 2025 sit at the wrong distance from their 4K tv. The 60IQ morons shown watching their television in the Idiocracy movie's future were sitting at the correct distance able to see 4K or higher. So many people in 2025 sit 20ft or more from their 50inch 4k TV, many people put them over their fireplace resulting in bad posture/neck issues & an overheating tv despite warnings online for both issues.
People in 2025 are cult like passionate about politics. Huge Biden or Trump signs in their yards, Trump flags attached to their truck. In the movie, it feels like they've captured the same idea as today. We don't have a stadium with a circus yet, but the people who thought fake wrestling was real in 2006 have all grown up into believing that politicians are mostly honest trying to do the right thing for everyone & will turn down bribes in secret when offered alternatives.

Found an interesting clip showing examples in how society has become dumb & stupid recently and real dangers about to arrive. Much of it is due to tools available and poor habits of convenience. From spell checking & gps usage to upcoming AI removing cognitive and critical thinking skills. Even if you haven't seen the movie, being aware of the direction the human race's intellectual decline and a possible reason for this might be helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtDWDWY_7Bc Not shown in the video, but I personally think there are biological reasons too such as microplastics (it's in the rainwater too), air quality (micro particulates small enough cross into the brain, but this includes microplastics entering your system via breathing).
Tap water and extra high fluoride in some parts across America are making people dumber. Here's a 6minute Joe Rogan clip about Fluoride in water from 5days ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1CuWKEHIag

Consumers that become more stupid over time are easier to manipulate into buying something or voting for someone. It's in most corporations best interest to discourage free thinking and/or critical thinking overall.
You can buy air filters, just not the bullshit 0.3 that 90% of the market sell. Get the 0.01 particulate size or smaller to remove blood/brain affecting shit in the air you breathe. If you drink bottled water don't let that sit in the sun & don't reuse, avoid tap water. The list goes on.
There are so many mental bad habits parents & kids are embracing across the globe accelerating the human species to becoming less intelligent too.

Idiocracy 2 movie If I could make a second movie, it would be a more realistic movie. I would draft the changes that took place over the past 19 years from 2006 until 2025, and project the same changes further another 19 years into the year 2044.
A man would've gone to sleep in 2006 and woken in the year 2044. Let's start with inflation because that math is easy to guess if the same amount of increases continued. Mind you a recession (likelihood HIGH) & an airborne pandemic (likelihood LOW) would have to occur from 2026-2044 among many other things.
Taco Bell Chalupa 2006=$1.50 2025=$5.19 2044=$17.95 (if the same 3.5x per 19years continued) Taco Bell Bean Burrito 2006=$0.79 2025=$2.39 2044=$7.23 (if the same 3x per 19years continued) Price of the metal Gold per ounce 2006=$604 2025=$2934 2044=$14252 (if the same 4.857x per 19years continued) The year is 2044 and the first thing our 2006 hero witnesses upon waking up are homeless people fighting walmart shopping cart collecting robots in a parking lot. He is surprised not only at the crazy prices of everything, but all paper money has been switched over to a plastic laminate form & all coins removed. With 6ft tall robots replacing all burger flippers, cashiers, janitors and most human interaction jobs the average human literally struggles to construct a single sentence. Pleasure from movie watching comes in the form of cheap 16k 3D VR glasses which everyone wears almost always, with universal basic income providing free electricity and basic nutrition to everybody.
The man from 2006 was by no means intelligent from his time, however in 2044 he's quite possibly one of the smartest people alive. He avoided mental practices and food/air products over the decades that resulted in everyone else's decline as he was simply asleep.
A circus reality TV show in 2044 called "Who wants to be a President?" introducing a new system where a lottery is formed picking our next leader. Due to voter fraud & infrastructure failing due to rapid IQ's dropping, the random chance & hope leads to a national selection once a year lottery system.
AI never surpases 2025 human level intelligence, but rather human intelligence drops to the level of a smart dog or young child. AI became smarter because people were eager for convenience, safety & comfort at any cost.

several scenes from the movie were filmed 5 minutes from my house - my best friend's dad worked on the movie too (he's the one who made the crazy cars used in the movie) and his shop is loaded with signs from the movie --- buttfucker's included
