MoP is a great album, for sure. But I like ...And Justice for All more. I think it's the cap stone on their entire library.
When I saw them during the 1992 show with GnR, they played a lot of their older stuff, with some of their "Black" album stuff thrown in. When I saw them again in 2000, they didn't seem as tight and played only a few of their older, better songs. I was pretty disappointed, if I'm honest.

Okay...so, I agree with you. MoP and AJFA are just...different. I actually like RTL more than MoP, but whatever.
AJFA is my favorite Metallica album, by far. Newkid is a Michigan kid and Flotsam and Jetsam has always been one of my favorite bands, from day one. I was a Junior in HS when AJFA came out and that cassette got wore out.
Seems like most of the music from that era had great songs from cover to cover. Of course, during that time you were a bit forced to listen to the entire album....where now you can just skip and it's not a big deal. It's been awhile since I've listened to an entire album, rather than put a genre on shuffle.
I saw them in 2019 and they surprised me. It was good. When I saw them in 89, they were on fucking fire. Great show.

Yeah, sounds like you and I agree that they got better over time, right up until the Black album. While it was enjoyable, it WAS "over-produced", and smacked of corporate interference. Up until then, they had stuck to their guns about their raw edge, and made the music THEY loved(and if others liked/loved it, even better).
A shitload of bands were like that, until the record labels got involved. Then all the producers were brought in, fucked with it to make it "consumer oriented", and that was that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoGXK32R7XA Tooth and Nail. Good to hear it sung again, rather than mumbled. I feel bad for Don and his health issues, but nostalgia along won't help at this point. It's embarrassing what he's been doing the last few years...sad really.

WOW, the synth lead and guitar lead at the same time is difficult stuff.

Oddly enough, I like this one. Never was much of a Tom Petty fan, but Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks, I dug. Early 80's radio rock just hits different.

That's funny, though. Most of the metal people I know love Tom Petty. And Neil Young, etc.

| | Not MUCH of a fan. Meaning, I like SOME of his stuff. His later stuff was meh.
I listen to a lot of things. Anything but country and polka.

C'mon, who does'nt like the greatest hits from the Polka Kings of the Midwest? Like Kiss me polka?

There's various Polish festivals here in Michigan. When I was a young dep, we'd have a formal event, and they'd play Polka several times throughout the night.
We haven't had that formal in a few years, but I know the last time, so many of our old guys have moved on, that they didn't play any Polka.
In a small way, I kind of missed it.
I'd rather listen to Polka than Country...
