I’ve played TFC since 1999 and I’ve never seen opposing engineers build SGs near each other at the same time. If both SGs are up before one SG kills the other engineer, will the SGs attack each other. Will a SG attack opposing team dispensers and teleporters. Not useful information, but I’ve become curious at my old age.

IIRC, they won't target/attack enemy SGs or dispensers (unless someone's behind it), but they will attack teleporters. Which, depending on the angle, they might miss entirely unless they're loaded with rockets.

Weird, but true, I believe. It's probably because they didn't think to program in targeting behavior for enemy SGs originally, but when they programmed teleporters into the game for the Steam update, they thought to include the behavior. (But didn't go back to fix the oversight with SGs/dispensers.)

Interesting! Did you read that somewhere or did you test it with friends or something?

It's one of the reasons why I have two(+) accounts, one logged in on my PC and one on my laptop, as it makes it easy to test shit from time to time. I actually thought to test that again over the summer, when I started playing Engi again, just to similarly know the answer to a silly question.

I tested on mulch_dm, and the SGs would just peacefully coexist together once the players were dead. We could learn a lot from SGs.

If I built a tele behind the doorway and opened it up, the SG would target and fire at it, but unless it was a level 3 SG with rockets, it would mostly just miss the actual tele and waste all its ammo.

Unrelated, but my favorite is when I get someones SG to kill them.

Its like dying at the hands of your own creation. So poetic.

i like finding ways to get the gun to fire without actually hitting me so it just runs out of ammo.

Almost always seems to happen when sentry guns are placed in the water under the bridge.

I apologized to someone for doing that but he said it's okay, it's just water under the bridge.

I think we can guess the other.

I've already explicitly stated some of the other reasons.

Interesting...I though that sgs would attack enemy ones if they are in range.

    Eya, I had a question too >__< !
In the rules (found on their discord) for "The Beer League" there was one rule I had a question about, regarding sentry guns:

Legal
- Bunny-hopping
- Sharking through water
- Ramp-sliding
- Strafe-jumping
- Any type of gren1 or gren2 jumping
- 1-duck chopping is allowed (repeated is grounds for suspension)
- Passing through lasers with 2 players.
- Facing away from SG in mid-air.
Illegal
- Quick-det
- Quick-switch (when done intentionally or scripted)
- Any type of soldier nail grenade bug/exploit
- ANY changes to the pitchup/down command
- Axis Locking via pitchup/down/forcecenterview
- Spy quick disguise
- Repeated duck-chopping
- Modified Explosion Sprites (approved for casting)

So: Facing away from SG in mid-air. How does this one work? Maybe it's not really a big thing on 2fort Sentry Guns, but.. maybe it is. Help meee :P
