Iggy, what are these increments you speak of? Is there a certain threshold where the limits get changed like with the snipers, is that what you speak of?

The class capping is an idea but it still doesn't change the fact that you can a game where 5 engies, an hw, and 3 demos are in the basement. That game is pretty much going to end stalemate. My illegal defense idea would mitigate that. You'd have to strategize who is going to be in the basement and what classes you're going to have their if you're going to limit the amount of players allowed in the basement.

Good luck getting the average player in the average game to strategize anything.

I'm guilty of this myself. I'll usually be lone ranger scout or soldier trying to get the flag. There are times I'll see fellow players in the spiral and try to coordinate, especially if they're soldier and I'm scout that they should act like a human shield/spam rockets and nades so I can do my thing. The most egregious is when a fellow medic will pass me in the spiral and not heal.

It seems like waiting in the elevator or the spiral for at least another team mate would be a better strategy sometimes than just going it alone.

^^^ it's hard enough to get teammates to leave the base and help get the flag on the bridge, which again happened yesterday. Must've been 7-8+ opposing players defending it. I still managed to pull off a double conc and ended up throwing the flag onto our batts for my teammate sniper to cap it. No biggie I didn't cap, as long as it was capped. I should make a video montage of these type of events.

^^^Please tell me you recorded that double conced toss to the battlements. What did you do exactly? Were the both hand held concs? This sounds pretty epic.

Like you said, the flag got capped and with an epic assist.

I posted a month or so ago about a turnover involving the enemy flag in my teams water spiral. I was so close from touching it but got killed by the lone soldier guarding it. Lack of communication was the big contributing factor to the turnover.

I rarely record when playing medic(shadowplay takes up a lot of storage) I threw a conc down on our batts to boost me to flag while immediately priming another conc. If you time it right your second conc(hand held) goes off right when you land on the ground. I air-strafed off the first conc(aggressively strafing right, almost touching the wall on the right side of the yard above the water, then strafing left to land on the flag on the bridge) doing this would A. give me momentum and B. put me in a position where I'm not facing the enemy base but looking straight ahead at the opposite wall in the yard(wall on the left). So when I land I can hand conc and just strafe left off that conc and aim for our battlements. Unfortunately there was too much spam on the batts, knowing I wouldn't make it, I tossed it.

What is this air strafing you speak of?

There’s a map called nyro strafe for practicing air strafing. It’s pretty challenging I can only beat it as scout and it’s probably out of your skill range right now babl but there’s no way to get better except to challenge yourself.

But basically air strafing is sorta what you do when you bunny hop, in that you can get acceleration by coordinating your lateral mouse movement in conjunction with the strafe keys.

Start an offline server type sv_gravity 400 in console to lower gravity jump in the air and while floating try only moving by wiggling your mouse and using strafe keys even if it’s just making circles.

You ought to find someone to practice with, you ask a lot of questions and have interest.

Epz taught me how to bunny hop by going hwguy and strafe jumping across the moat without using forward key, from a dead stop.

    @Gaba, all good points

If you want to conceptualize how bhop works, do figure 8's in the water in 2fort and watch how fast you go. That, in a nutshell, is the concept of bhop (albeit in much bigger, more exaggerated sweeping motions)

The HWGuy / well task is a helpful one of demonstrating how effective air strafing to gain speed is

@Backalley, like I mentioned in last post, I'd be happy to spend time with you 1 on 1 and take you through some maps and things to show you how to develop.

You're a bigger person than me. One of my biggest frustrations is snipers taking a cap.
