So a few weeks ago an engineer built an SG inside the enemy respawn. Has anyone else seen this happen before? It's a first for me so I decided to make a video of it. The server had around 17 players playing at the time.

"Enemy engineer does the unthinkable and builds SG inside respawn!
I don't want to get anyone in trouble so I've blocked the names of players in this particular video and I certainly didn't !report anyone during this round of play.
The entertainment was just too good I couldn't bring myself to kill the Engy/SG.. :-)"

I did it before and was quickly informed it wasn't cool...but yet I have built teles and dispensers in there......AGAIN..it breaks down to intent...cheap kills...I guess who you ask...I go to the trouble to build a dispenser so I can get a level 2 sg built there next trip...are those really cheap kills...I kinda think I earned them...but then you have freshly spawned players...I'm willing to bet this is a cheap play....just my view...if I kill someone with a dispenser kill...is that really a cheap play?...
or better yet...if I leave pipes on a teleporter and leave em there till I get killed...is that cheap play?
sure I should get in and out...but is that the best play?
this game has intricacies...
TBH...I think a solly should be allowed to leave a nail grenade at the entrance to spawn...but never more than one...such as the spy..BUT i am against the nail grenade or mirv exploit
EDIT:
don't drop a detpack in your own spawn when ff is on...you'll get banned for like 30 minutes :P | |

Too funny. Never seen one built so close to the enemy's inner spawn door.
And sorry to rat them out, but I depixelated the offender's name. We need to ban ░▒▓█▄▓█▌▌▓▒▓▀!
Also, once on a quiet server, some player who totally wasn't me built a tele exit to enemy basement resupply and it was kind of funny. | |

I think this should be treated like the teleporter with the flag exploit. Either the engineer sneaked into the resupply or nade jumped there. Then he dodged respawning players and the auto-turret and managed to build an SG and upgrade it to level 3 to boot. The soldier bitching about the SG in the spawn and walking away from it was totally on the nose. Like the teleporting from the enemy flag room with the flag exploit, it's totally on the other team to avoid either of these situations. I wouldn't call this cheap kills per se given the high risk involved to pull this off.
Someone here bitched about a spy shanking people in the sniper respawn as cheap kills. I'm sure he got a 5 day ban but I think it's a little different than simply throwing mirvs up the sniper spawn drop. It's a high risk strategy that I feel if successfully pulled off warrants the rewards.
Forget pixelating this guy's name, he should be given a billion dollars in ralphy bucks. You actually depixelated it, level1nobody? What's the deal with that weird type set?

I think it's been said that because of the time needed to build one in enemy spawn that you get what you deserve

I agree with backalley assessment on how this should be treated. Walnut told me during a game that an SG built pointing at the enemy’s respawn is fair game because that team never should of allowed the engy the opportunity. I feel there isn’t much difference, as the SGs both target unexpected newly spawned players. Although in my situation there was like 3 or 4 men on each team, so there wasn’t much risk on the engy. | |
