I guess I'll just have to sound like an idiot, but do understand I mean this from the bottom of my heart:
I'm literally shocked right now, and I mean that in a good way. You sir, just by asking this, are displaying how decent a person you are.
In order to answer the question, I'll have to wait until Katina wakes up this afternoon, as she handles the household finances.
I can't say how deeply I'm moved that you asked that question. I want to give you a "bro-hug" just for asking it. | | God, I'm senile. Katina mentioned this post (because I had discussed it with her the other night), and now I feel like an even bigger idiot.
To answer the question, I will have to disclose what we pay for what. Now, before I do, I still have to say that you guys have been amazing in your generosity, and I really don't want to ask for any more.
As I told someone on Steamchat the a couple of nights ago, "We're 'Old Poor', so we have learned to live a pretty minimalist lifestyle. People that were 'Middle Class', and were adversely affected by the Covid Shutdown, are 'New Poor', and don't know how to stretch a penny into copper wire." (Yes, I know they aren't actually made of copper anymore, but the joke stands).
Our mortgage and car payment are covered by my Disability check. The only things that are important are the electric bill, internet, and car insurance. We're on a payment plan with the electric bill, because we fell way behind after Katina's heart surgery. We kinda got lucky there, because of a mandate from the governor that no one could be shut off during the Covid shutdown.
So, here are just those 3 things each month(everything else is a "luxury" item that we can do without if necessary):
Car Insurance: $190 Internet: $140 Electric: $350
Again, I don't expect any more from this community, I dearly appreciate the help you all have given us already. You guys have given us a good chance of not losing anything this month, and whenever I could, I stockpiled food (dry/canned goods). If we have to, we can survive for a month just on that. Perishables usually cost us maybe $50 a week.
Fortunately, both Katina and Timothy are back to work, so next week they return to their regular paychecks. We just have to get through this next week, and I think we can do that. I just wanted to make sure I answered the question that was asked. So you guys know the priorities, if nothing else. | |

As I said, the mortgage and car payment (top of the priority list) are covered by my Disability check (which came in yesterday, so those are covered automatically). We obviously need to keep a roof over our head, and the vehicle is an absolute necessity given where we live.
Our "Streaming services" are what I call "luxury items" and can be done without for a week or even a month if necessary. (I've done that before because we have a pretty big iTunes library that I've accumulated over the last 20+ years.)
Car insurance is a priority, because without it, Katina and Timothy can't get to work without it (same with fuel, but we manage that pretty well (usually $20 a week covers us)). Timothy could likely walk from the nearest bus stop to work, but Katina can't. While her heart has been repaired, it's not quite up to that.
Electricity/ (natural) gas is up near the top (they are the same bill), for obvious reasons.
So, that's about it. I don't think any medications are due for at least another 3 weeks, and by then, we should be able to cover them. Most of hers are either "free", or only a few bucks. None of mine are due until early next month, and I know those will be covered by then (same with the doctor visit). I like to schedule them that way. I'm not quite as dumb as I look. ;)
