Where's the line on this? Your feet were on the ground when I shot you. You were out of spawn. Watch it again. Am I supposed to let you get a shot in first? | | Based on the footage of the video "I was advancing" is a bit of a stretch there.

I hate snipers, but I have to go with Blorp on this one. If he'd been camping the dropdown, that'd be different, but it looked like he was watching his back, got a single kill, and then moved on.
On offense, I hate it when I kill someone rr or batts, and as I enter the main room, I hear them respawning. I know they're about to get after me again with full health, but I have to watch my fire on the off chance it's some unsuspecting newb that then mirror damages me to death.
In this case for d, knowing where he was moving, I'd've primed a lot earlier and tossed as soon as I hit the ground while juking toward grate. He's a good sniper, so I'd only give that a 50/50 chance of working. And of course hindsight's 20/20.

I've seen a number of demos pipe trapping the drop down and getting banned.

So from what everyone is saying, seems like it is perfectly legal to throw a grenade at the drop down as you run through to the ramp room right? I mean, as long as you aren't sitting there camping and it is just as you pass by.

today's secret word is:
EXCESSIVE.
just like on the MOTD. EXCESSIVE camping, spamming, spawn infecting...
say it with me: EXCESSIVE.
fucking 3 pages of complaining over one sniper round. y'all sat alone at lunch and it shows.

I think you have a point here. The rules even say there are instances when spamming the spawn is warranted.

I like LG... he's a good dude.
With that said, I've said this before: He trims his videos down a bit much to establish an actual answer.
This one, though... IS a bit more complete in what it shows.
But, just from what is shown in the clip, I'll say that A: HAD I been on, and B: It was !reported, I would C: Look at the player in question to see if there was a pattern of camping the Respawn.
However, with that said, judging ONLY on what is presented.....
It seems like he sniped LG at the top of the water spiral, went down the long hall, heard LG (or maybe someone else) Respawn, continued on his way but covered his ass.
I'd have to see the full HLTV to watch that player to see if my suspicion is correct, but let's just assume it is for the moment.
LG has the choice of either communicating to his team that there's a Sniper in their base and running some Offense off of the Sniper Deck, or trying to chase down the guy who just killed him in a Defensive move (to help his team that way). He chose the latter, and got picked off again.
He didn't communicate to his team about the Sniper, but just "went after him". The Sniper got the drop on him while moving away from the dropdown, and picked him off again.
I say "Legal". He wasn't camping the area waiting for anyone to drop down... and once he took the shot, he moved into the Ramp Room (which he was close to anyway).
Now, if the player literally sat there waiting for people to drop down, took the shot, the stayed in the same location waiting for another one to Respawn and drop down... THAT would show intent.
Happy now?
Also, Your Mileage May Vary, depending on what Admin is on, and what they see. Just remember, the key word is "INTENT".

There are multiple factors in deciding when to take action. In most cases it is on a situational basis with intent being the driving force. Intent can be misinterpreted however, therefore patterns of behavior are important. If someone is repeatedly doing something over the course of the match and it teeters within rules or flat-out breaks them, that's a good indication on what the players intent is. That is not to mention player history. In a lot of cases, people break that rules have under 50 hours of play time. But if someone is a regular, they should know better.
As the most recently annointed admin here, I must say I do enjoy the responsibly but it really is not as easy as one would think, especially when playing in the game itself. Best to spectate to fully gauge what is going on. I was in this match. LG didn't report it. I didn't see it. If the report was filed as "sniper sniping drop down for cheap kills", I would have to immediately spectate to see if there's a pattern. If this is a one-off event, I wouldn't have seen it and would have to rely on LG's word to make a formal decision.

From an admin everyone. | | I agree with Iggy on this. Except for blatant breaking of rules, pattern should be the key. I compare it to driving where you have to make quick decisions on the fly. Everyone probably breaks the rules one way or another almost every time they drive. But in all, doesn’t warrant a ticket, even when seen by a cop.
