Are you purposely repeating what BABL said?

Repeating back what someone said can be a way to acknowledge understanding and ensure accuracy, and can help some individuals process and remember it.
As for Illinois, they reduced five Republican seats to three. Illinois did so by drawing districts such that a large number of Republican votes are *wasted*. E.g. either in districts that are already overwhelmingly Republican or in districts where they are vastly outnumbered by Democratic votes. I could easily argue the most egregious Democratic-drawn gerrymander on the current congressional map is in Illinois. Just take a peak at the 13th district.

Ok, let's repeat then.
Gerrymandering is bad when it happens in IL, or if congress does it by adding new states, but not in TX.
And American citizens don't deserve representatives in congress because of where they live if doing so can be considered political gerrymander.
Why the fuck do the two halves of American insist on talking past each other? 😠 Not that a tfc forum is ever going to change the world. 🤣 But man, fuck politicians.

Let them become a state because it strengthens the US or benefits the country as a whole. If not, don't do it so you can "win" presidential elections easier. I have zero confidence that a majority of congressmen will act for the greater good of the country over their own parties and personal interests. | | Are you aware that Puerto Rico's citizens can vote in US elections, so making them an actual state wouldn't make a damned bit of difference in elections?

So, for the Electoral College, how are they represented? Oh, so statehood would make some measure of difference in elections?
How many representatives or senators do they have in congress?
Interesting.... | |

"Residents of Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories do not have voting representation in the United States Congress, and are not entitled to electoral votes for president."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_voting_rights_in_Puert... Although DC is different with 3 electoral votes, no senate representation, and 1 delegate who can't vote on the floor. I'll revise my previous statement to OK Xoomer.

I guess it's only a threat in Texas, but certainly saves democracy in Illinois.
I was shocked that NBC actually asked the Illinois governor a tough question on their gerrymandering that he deftly side-stepped despite being a fat POS.

i thought billionaires are bad? aren't we supposed to hate them and "eat the rich"?
i thought "nobody should be a billionaire"?
or is it that billionaires are OK, so long as you're the democratic governor of IL?
sorry, i just can't keep up with the goal posts changing (they seem to move every 3 minutes)

I'll have to finish that video later, but it amazes me how many dyed-in-the-wool Democrats can't attack Trump from his weakest angle because they really don't give two shits about him enabling and encouraging a genocide.
They don't give two shits about protesters' free speech if the protesters are wearing keffiyehs. They don't give two flying fucks that the UK just arrested 400+ human-rights activists, many of whom are veterans and elderly. It doesn't bother them in the slightest that jackbooted thugs in Germany are beating the shit out of anti-genocide activists... and arresting people for thoughtcrime on social media.
And the best we can get out of people like Ghent is sneering rhetoric to the tune of "I wonder how the free-speech warriors feel about..." Disappointing.
Oh, and a foreign government did get Trump elected, even so in 2016, allegedly. But it wasn't Russia, so mum's the word for all the Liberal talking heads.

The disillusioned, misinformed, or moderates are complicit in the unprecedented destruction of checks and balances out of frustration with an obviously broken system that isn’t working for anybody.
Democrats are unwilling or unable to qualify issues that move the needle, and are so focused on pointing out the blatant path to authoritarianism that in the span of what will be 12 years, are also unwilling or unable to find a single candidate that can answer the question of “what’s the point of voting for a Democrat?”
People are talking past each other because they’re not talking to each other. IMO people aren’t talking to each other because it’s not possible to talk to each other when you know there’s a disparity in the value systems between you and who you’re speaking to. I’m a perfect example of that. And I’m fine with that. I don’t need to spend time talking to disingenuous keyboard warriors.

IMO, people aren't talking to each other because they have decided to let their surroundings and talking heads tell them what to think, what to say, and what to feel. Nothing is more embarrassing to me as a man than watching another grown man shout out headlines that he read on facebook in an attempt to make a point in an argument. The beauty of free thought and logical thinking has eluded "adults" for the better part of the entirety of this generation so far.
I truly think the underlying root issue here is that people are incapable of creating their own thoughts and basing their opinions on logic instead of emotion. It's a world-wide issue at this point.
I also think there are far too many "adults" that are incapable of realizing that two things can be true at the same time.
For example: I think Kamala was a fucking moron.
I also think Trump is a fucking moron.
But as soon as I say "I think Kamala is a fucking moron", I am automatically attacked with "oH AnD yOuR rApIsT lEaDeR ThAt yOu vOtEd FoR iS AnY BeTtEr!?".
It's like, I like bell peppers, therefore I hate zucchini. This stupid single-lane-only approach to accusation is what truly drives me nuts in any kind of conversation nowadays. These "adults" are nothing more than grown children with decent paying jobs masquerading as "adults"
