Megadeth/LoG in September Gojira in October Taking the wife to Hall and Oates in August, but I've always dug them too.
Flotsam announced a tour, all the south west though :(
I wanted to go see Byzantine in August, but one of my co-workers is having his bachelor party weekend and will be off, taking all kinds of fools with him, so no dice.
Good to see shows opening up though...

sounds badd ass! I saw Flotsam twice 2 years ago...and I just couldn't get into it...the opening bands weren't any better...so I figure I just missed my mark

I saw them two years ago also. They've always been one of my favorites, so that makes a difference. Eric (singer) was losing his voice, which sucked, but they were still great.

Actually, one of my best friends invited me to the M3 concert/festival down at Merriweather.
The "live music" loving part of me really wants to go....
But... the "my body can't handle that kind of activity" realist keeps telling me "you're not 30 years old anymore, and it's a bad idea.
Sure, I could use my walker... AND if I'm medicated enough.... but that latter part is up in the air. Plus, while my friend said I wouldn't have to walk to get beer, I *WOULD* have to walk to the pisser. I've been to that venue on a few occasions. I really don't think I can physically handle a show like that anymore.
But, I did tell him, that a smaller venue, with less walking, smaller crowds, etc... might be better, given my conditions. He and I have been to some good shows together, and I hate to disappoint him. But a show like M3.... if I did go, I could find myself needing to leave early, and that wouldn't be fair to him(and his new wife). So, it's not just myself I'm thinking of. I would feel really bad if I had to be the reason they had to leave the show before it was over.

That's quite the lineup...
I'm not sure I could deal with a festival type show at this point either. I can see why you'd be torn, cos I wouldn't want to be unfair to my friends either in that regard.
And fuck those bathrooms....jesus. Pine Knob is the worst, and that's where I'm seeing Megadeth. Breaking the seal there is bad...lines are too long.
I also prefer the smaller venues these days. Just a more fun atmosphere and easier to maneuver.

Yeah, it looks like a good show(all 3 days). And no doubt, each of those bands would put on a good performance.
But I really don't want to be the "Debbie Downer" of the group should my back(and/or the weather) turn against me(the weather can REALLY fuck with my conditions). The absolute LAST thing I'd want is to ruin THEIR good time, because of my physical limitations. I mean, I know they'd "understand".... but friends don't do that kind of shit to each other. Especially ones as close as we are(Mike is like a brother to me). I dearly appreciate them offering to take me... and that's even more reason to NOT want to fuck it up for them. Hell, I know they'd feel bad even if I just went back to the car to lay down and cry in pain. Which, again, would contribute to them not enjoying the show as much as they could. I can't do that to them.

Right...I get that 'fair' was too basic, but it was meant to not sound as harsh as 'ruin' and 'fuck it up' and all that.
Really...I understood. You didn't have to yell. :)

funny you 2 should mention "physical limitations" as to that's the reason I backed out of the last 2 festivals I was invited to...the only exception I would make for this would be Wacken...and so far no one has invited me yet :)
*please forgive my misspelling of Wacken LOL

Wacken would be amazing. So many bands that we would never get to see here...

or even bands I have seen in small venues, up close and personal...there seems to be a totally different performance at Wacken in particular
Case in point...not only because it's Dukes, but the energy is over the top IMO

It's funny...my routine when I review reports at work, is to put on Exodus. I don't bring my BT speaker to work, so I put a bunch of music on my work PC a few years ago...I always go to Exodus.
Starting with Riot Act...

excellent taste my friend...whenever I need an attitude adjustment it's either Exodus or GWAR :)

It just sets the mood, cos reading that shit...especially stuff that has been returned after someone else reviewed it and kicked it back, gets old.
Plus my co-supervisor doesn't really care for the music, so he will get to the point and get the fuck out of my office.
I'm struggling with music lately...just not enough solid stuff coming out. Latest Gojira is growing on me. Flotsam has a new album I haven't grabbed yet. The new Fear Factory comes out this week, but meh. I heard the new Helloween is kick ass. Pestilence has a new one coming out that I'm curious about.
Otherwise, it's just a bunch of resissues.

hadn't heard of the new Helloween, gonna hafta look...Exodus is promising a new album ("Persona Non Grata")relatively soon...so there is some hope
after listening to the "New" Helloween, https://youtu.be/gLV530n3kMw I remembered why I only like them live...to me they seem like a heavier Queensryche...(after operation mindcrime) to me their songs all seem to sound the same...I love the 2 guitar attack at the beginning, but it just seems to lack any bite...
